Blog Her or Not?

So I live actually a few blocks from the Chicago border and I love the whole blog world, but I am still torn about going to BlogHer this year as it is being held in Chicago. I used to be very outgoing and far from shy, but since I have had my boys I feel like I may have lost my touch and since I have been out of the outside working world for two years I am not sure I know how to talk to other adults! I mean my days are filled with baby talk to my 7 month old, and small words so my 24 month old understands me. Yes of course I talk to other adults all the time but the idea of a whole conference room full of other women really intimidates me. I have only been blogging since August 2008 and even though I am far from computer beginner I am also far from computer savvy on the whole blog and social media scene.

Twitter, Stumble, Deal.icious (?), are completely clueless to me and Facebook and Technorati are something I just recently started using. There is so much I want to learn and do and I just feel that I need to go to BlogHer and network with other women and absorb all the information that I can. I really want my blog to be a success and for my own knowledge I want to learn everything that I can! BlogHer sounds so great and for the two days at $200 it is expensive but I definitely think the knowledge and networking would be worth it.

So are any of you going to BlogHer or have you been to a similar conference? I really could use some motivation or good thoughts. Please push me in the right direction! Let me know what to expect, wear, anything you can tell me would be much appreciated!

  • I will probably end up going. I know it is important and since I won't have travel expenses I might as well take advantage. I actually applied to be a volunteer which would mean my admission would be paid for and that would be wonderful! I'm crossing my fingers!

  • I definitely understand your anxiety. I feel like I lost my touch since I started staying home. I used be a fancy ole professional woman...now I just feel like I trip over my tongue when I try to speak to people I don't know!!! But I would go to BlogHer if I were you. Especially since you're so close. From what I hear, you learn SO much and network with SO many bloggers. It can't do anything but help!!

  • I am thinking about it since I live downstate. Diana (Rambles) was asking me about going with her. It may be fun to meet blog friends and put a face on the names.
