So my son is 28 months and my youngest is 11 months, and I am desperate to get my oldest out of diapers. Having two kids in diapers really adds up! As far as potty training goes, I am lost. I am the only one amongst our friends that has kids and the only advice I have gotten is from the Internet. My son is not talking yet, so I am trying to work with him so he can tell him somehow when he has to go potty. We have a potty chair in the bathroom upstairs and a seat that you put on the actual toilet in the bathroom downstairs. Every now and then Aidan will go sit on them himself, but he won’t pee in it.
Sometimes I see him grabbing himself so I hurry up and throw him on a potty, but its too late. He does like sitting on both of them, but only if I let him play with my iPod Touch! Of course he won’t look at a book or toy, he has to play on my iPod! Like I said I am desperate to try anything so if him playing with my iPod gets him to sit on the toilet longer so he will go potty, then I am doing it. I think once he goes pee on the potty, he will realize that its not so bad. We have even tried letting him stay in the bathroom with us while we go so he will hopefully mimic us, but nothing.
It is frustrating and I keep giving up and telling myself that he will let me know when he is ready, but I know I have to keep trying. Thanks to the Parent Bloggers Network and Pull-Ups, I have some help. You can visit The Potty Project to follow real life families and watch them work their way through potty training. It is comforting to watch others and know I am not alone and see what other moms are doing. The Pull Ups potty website offers tools and resources available to help parents (and kids) make potty training easier and fun.

It can be so frustrating. Good thing is that he's making the first step in sitting on the potty. I know the Potty Project site can give you a lot of advice.
Maybe this will work for you??
We've been working with my youngest, who is 21 months. He LOVES stickers, so I made up a little chart- One side for potty, one side for poo- and put it up on the wall next to the toilet. I ask him frequently throughout the day if he needs to go, but also put him on there even if he says no. When he goes, he gets to pick a sticker and put it on the chart. And of course, the biggest stickers are for poo! It's going very well, and there are times he'll sit there and try SO hard so he can get a sticker!
Good luck!!
That is awesome!
we spent a whole day letting my daughter watch movie after movie on the portable dvd player to get her to sit on the potty. and it worked! she sat there so long that she went several times, and then it clicked for her.
Oh my goodness. He needs to ipod to want to sit there. Maybe you can give him the ipod to sit there, but tell him he needs to go potty for you to turn it on? IDK. I am not a Mom, so I am clueless. LOL. He is cute!
