Faryl Smith CD Review & Giveaway (Ends 5/22)

On May 31, 2008, a 13 year old girl sang her way into people’s hearts and minds throughout Britain during the final round of “Britian’s Got Talent.” And one of her judges was none other than our favorite American Idol judge, Simon Cowell, who praised her by saying she was “literally one in a million” and “the most talented youngster I’ve ever heard.” Faryl Smith went from an ordinary schoolgirl from Narthamptonshire to signing the largest record deal ever awarded to a young classical artist.

Faryl’s voice is emotional, powerful, mature, and amazing. She has such a nice voice that I am sure she will do well. Luckily Faryl has a supporting family and still can be a regular girl. She is treated the same amongst her friends, sings in her local choir, plays in an all-girls football team, and loves shopping. Her choir singing is actually what shaped her voice and solo career. Starting out with show songs and ballads, Faryl’s teacher moved her on to classical songs.

Faryl Smith’s album, entitled Faryl, has become “The Fastest-Selling Solo Classical Debut Release Ever,” surpassing records set by Charlotte Church, U2, Taylor Swift and Kelly Clarkson on UK Charts. On April 29th, Faryl traveled to the US to celebrate her CD release here and performed on “The Ellen Degeneres Show,” performing her first single, “The River of Light.” Other songs on the album include Ave Maria, Amazing Grace, Shenandoah, and Annie’s Song.
Now even though I am not an opera or classical music lover, it is still amazing to listen to her and realize that she is only 13 years old! I can only imagine how much her voice will grow as she gets older.

Check out the official video for “River of Light” taken from the debut album, “Faryl”
