Is Lasik in my future?

I still remember in 7th grade how excited I was to get glasses. Back then I only needed them for reading, but at a Catholic school where I had to wear a uniform, I was happy for anything that set me apart from the other girls. Well since then a lot has changed in my vision department. In high school I had to wear glasses to drive too, then in college I started wearing glasses all the time. Finally, after I had my second child I decided to get contacts. I just couldn’t take them pulling on my glasses anymore and I went through a few pairs during my son’s first year!

My husband was not as lucky as I was, he got glasses around the same time but needed them all the time. He got contacts in high school but he really wanted lasik. After we got married and before we had kids, we decided he would have Lasik done since we could only afford one of us and his vision was worse than mine. He says now that LASIK was the best decision he ever made.

Now that we have a little extra money set aside I started looking into Lasik and was I surprised. One statement I read that I was surprised over was that over a lifetime, a 25 year old wearing extended wear contacts will spend upwards of $20,000! Yeah, wow! Now I am not sure if that takes into consideration visiton insurance and sales, but still $20,000!
