Book Review & Giveaway: "Defending College Heights" by Stuart Nachbar (Ends 10/1)

Mystery books are my favorite genre. I just love when a book is suspenseful and not obvious as it really keeps me reading. My husband makes fun of me as if I really get into a book, I will literally walk around the house and read a page here and there, because of course with kids I don’t get to lounge on the couch anymore and read in peace! The book “Defending College Heights” by Stuart Nachbar is one of those books.

Now I admit when I first started reading the book, I was almost turned off because it involves a murder of a U.S. Army captain who was a recruiting commander on a University campus. I thought the book would be technical and in “Army” talk, but its not. I mean it does cover army recruiting and their involvement, but it also goes into depth of how a university is ran and I found that really interesting. I was also able to relate as I went to a large university and I remember recruiters on campus, although I don’t really recall any anti-war protesters, which is what is going on in the book.

The book is a great who-dun-it as it involves the army, university personnel, family, and the media. I am sure it is pretty close to reality too if the book were to be a non-fiction. Nachbar developed his characters so well that they are easy to imagine and either relate or hate.
Overall, I am glad I kept reading this book and I look forward to more books by Stuart Nachbar. Defending College Heights is also a relatively quick read and with its plot twists it is easy to keep reading!
