I don’t remember the first time we watched Word World, but that day changed our lives. Ever since Aidan has been hooked and I actually tivo the episodes and I even downloaded one off the Word World webpage and put it on my iPod Touch for him. If you have never seen Word World, I highly recommend it for any child, and it is honestly a cartoon I don’t mind watching. It airs on PBS Kids and is a very catchy show.
Word World is not your average cartoon as it is actually educational. The characters are made of letters so for example, “Dog” is made of the letters D-O-G. Pretty much everything in the show is made of the letters that spell it and throughout the show there is lots of singing and word building so your child can learn their letter.
If you have seen all the television episodes, don’t worry as there are also DVDs you can check out. The newest Word World DVD is “A Kooky Spooky Halloween.” With Halloween just around the corner, this DVD was a hit in our house. The DVD features 2 episodes, each 15 minutes long and it is worth it at the price of only $6.99. The first episode features Pig who sleep walks covered in a sheet and the WordFriends think he’s a ghost. The other episode features the WordFriends in their Halloween costumes. We have watched this DVD practically every day since we got it and Aidan has yet to get sick of it! I love that it is all about Halloween and features some great songs and costumes!
