Atkins Chocolate Bars Review: Yummy!

I first heard about Atkins when I worked at Borders Books and the book Dr. Atkins’ New Diet Revolution was a top seller.  At the time, I was in college and a diet other than fast food and Ramen noodles didn’t really appeal to me.  I think I just always thought that to be on a diet you have to spend money and back then I didn’t have any!

Well now, Atkins is not just a diet, but a lifestyle for many people.  Other than various books, Atkins now has a food line.  Currently Atkins has morning bars, snack bars, dessert bars, Shakes, and even penne pasta and an All Purpose Baking Mix.  The main premise behind Atkins is for you to change your body from a carb-burning to a fat-burning machine.  For example, I read that on the Atkins website that “When you eat too many carbs, your body burns some of those carbs for energy and stores the excess carbs as fat.  When you eat fewer carbs – especially white flour and sugar, your body begins burning fat as its primary fuel source.”

Well I had the chance to try out a whole bunch of the Atkins bars and they were surprisingly good!  I have not had a lot of luck with healthy “chocolate” bars, they never taste as good as regular candy bars.  The Atkins Advantage bars come in flavors like:  Carmel Chocolate Nut Roll, Carmel Fudge Brownie Bar, Chocolate Chip Granola Bar, Marshmallow Mudslide Bar, and S’mores Bar!  The Atkins Endulge bars come in similar flavors, but are more of a dessert treat, some flavors include:  Carmel Nut Chew Bar, Chocolate Caramel Mousse Bar, Nutty Fudge Brownie Bar, and my favorite Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups!  For example, with the Peanut Butter Cups, there is 0g Sugar, 160 Calories, and Only 2g Net Carbs.  On the wrapper it even displays which of the following phases of the Atkins Diet the bar is appropriate for!

Overall, my husband and I enjoyed the Atkins bars and they are especially nice to eat on the go or as a snack.  I am still not dieting, but at least I know that I am snacking on a healthy substitute to candy bars and greasy chips.

BUY IT:  You can buy Atkins products at the Official Atkins Online Store, CVS, Walgreens, Wal-Mart, Target, and most grocery stores too!
