K’NEX New Sesame Street Collection Review: Love it!

When I think of K’NEX, I think of building sets for older kids like the moveable roller coasters and Ferris wheel sets.  Well now K’NEX has an adorable line for children ages 2-5 featuring Sesame Street characters.  I think this is a great idea because it not only brings in Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Ernie, but it also has developmental benefits.

Aidan is going to be 3 years old (sob, sob…) in January and he loves to build and he loves Sesame Street so when I gave him the Ice Cream Truck Building Set with Elmo, he was so excited.  He immediately began trying to build it like the picture on the box.  The pieces are just the right size for his hands, about the same size as DUPLO blocks, and they snap in easily.  This particular set also comes with wheels so he can not only build it but then push it around the house!  After he was done, he ripped it apart and built it again, I was so amazed it can hold his attention longer than most toys.  I like too how you can be creative and put the pieces however you want and that they can work with additional sets that you can buy.  The set did only contain 18 pieces so I would recommend checking out the other sets so you can expand upon it, because Aidan definitely wanted more to do. 

There are four individual sets to the Sesame Street line that can be played with individually or together to build a neighborhood:  Ice Cream Truck Building Set, Police Car Building Set, 1-2-3 Brownstone Building Set, and Police Station Building Set.  Each set also comes with a Play & Learn activity sheet, which features educational and fun activities for preschoolers and parents.  I think it is awesome that K’NEX has gone the extra mile to offer some of us non-creative mamas some ideas! 

As I said earlier, these sets provide developmental benefits including Physical Development, Social/Emotional Development, Language Development, and Cognitive Skills.  It is amazing how a simple toy can provide so many benefits once you really think about it!
