Airwear Lenses: Lighter. Safer. Greener.

Basically everything you do or buy, there is a “green” version. Now there is even a company that produces eco-friendly lenses. Airwear polycarbonate lenses from Essilor are made using environmentally-conscious practices, including using 100% recycled water, 100% recyclable packaging and re-purposing unused materials throughout other industries. You may think that because these lenses are “green” that they are not high-quality but Airwear lenses are 43% lighter and 10 times more impact resistant than regular lenses. So Airwear lenses have the lightness and strength needed in a lens while also providing comfort and style!

If you are like me, then you are probably clueless about Airwear. Well is is a polycarbonate lens which is actually the same material used to make CDs, DVDs, and bulletproof glass. The Airwear lenses also are scratch-resistance, offer ultraviolet protection and are very impact-resistant. You can use Airwear lenses for single vision and progressive prescriptions and they are compatible with many of the world’s trusted visions brands, including Varilux and Transitions. They are also great for both kids and adults!

I received the opportunity to try out the new Airwear lenses and at first I was like “whatever.” I mean lenses are lenses, right? Wrong. With two boys constantly pulling on my glasses (which is why I try not to wear them too much!) I need high quality lenses that can stand up to kids and last since new glasses are not something I can keep replacing.  When I first put these new glasses on, I thought they were so light and clear.  Now maybe the pair I was wearing is just old and a little abused, but these new lenses really seemed much clearer.  I know I am going to enjoy wearing them and I love that I was able to help the environment through them also!
