PBM Products Store Brand Formulas Wins Lawsuit!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of PBM Products. All opinions are 100% mine.

I am a big advocate for store brand formulas (as well as other items) and due to a recent lawsuit hopefully more parents will consider it.  Now as a side now, I did breastfeed both of my boys for about five months, which was all I could, and I do understand not every mom can or feels comfortable breastfeeding.

PBM Products is a leading infant formula company that supplies store-brand infant formulas to Walmart, Sam’s Club, Target, Kroger, Walgreens and other retailers.  They have just received a favorable jury verdict and $13.5 million damages award from false advertising lawsuit against Mead Johnson & Co., who makes Enfamil LIPIL Infant Formula.  PBM claimed that Mead Johnson played false and misleading campaigns against PBM formulas suggesting that they do not provide the same nutrition as Mead Johnson’s brands.  Despite Mead Johnson’s claims, parents can be assured that PBM’s formula products are as high quality and nutritious as Enfamil.

I can’t believe though the level Mead Johnson stooped to when they sent out a direct mailing to more than 1.6 million parents of an alarming blurry picture of a child’s cartoon duck next to a clear picture of the same image.  They suggested that anything other than Enfamil LIPIL blend of ingredients is inferior and will result in poor eye and brain development.  Other part s of the false advertising campaign consist of statements that only Enfamil LIPIL has been proven to develop visual and mental benefits on infants , and store brand formulas are a “cut-back in nutrition” compared to Enfamil.

I am so happy that PBM won this lawsuit.  Not everyone knows that formula is FDA approved and just because a family cannot afford name brand formulas, doesn’t mean their child should suffer.  I used store brand formulas and I did worry that maybe I should try to afford the name brand formulas, but since both my boys seemed to do well with Target and Walmart brand, I stuck with them.  The cost of PBM Products formulas are also half the price (saving up to $600 per year) and that is a big difference in price!  It also was a lifesaver because I had two boys in formula at the same time and once you add in all the diapers and other baby necessities I could have gone broke!

Whatever you decide to use with your child, I just wanted to throw this out there and hope it saves you so money and gives you some comfort if you do choose it.
