Healthy Choice New Gourmet Entrees

At least one day a week, we do a fend for yourself meal for dinner. Usually it is soup, a sandwich, personal pizza, or a frozen entrée. I try to pick something healthy, but with flavor and reasonably priced.

Healthy Choice is actually the only major brand in its category FDA-approved to call its products “healthy.” The requirements are for the meal to be low fat, low saturated fat, controlled sodium and 10% of the daily value of three beneficial nutrients. When I think of all the foods I eat that say “healthy” it makes me wonder if the meal is actually healthy! Some of the new Healthy Choice entrees are their Mediterranean Inspired Café Steamers; with varieties like Grilled Vegetables Mediterranean, Balsamic Garlic Chicken and Lemon Garlic Chicken & Shrimp.

I was able to try two of their new entrees:  Creamy Basil Pesto (250 calories) and Torellini Primavera  Parmesan (220 calories).  Now I did not have high expectations for these because I have tried “healthy” entrees before and they were terrible!  No flavor, small portions, and bad flavor choices.  These entrees from Healthy Choice were awesome!  You could not tell at all that they were actually healthy for you and the portions were perfect, I ate them for lunch but for dinner they might not be enough at least for me.  I can eat the Creamy Basil Pesto one especially over and over!  The Tortellini Primavera was also delicious, but I am more of a pest lover; however, I am excited now to check out all the other great Healthy Choice flavors.
