K’NEX Sesame Street Collections Review

When my brothers were little I used to love playing with their toys, and my favorite was also the K’NEX toy sets they would get.  They were also a million pieces, but putting together something and then watching for example a Ferris Wheel go round and round, was so worth it!  Now I always had the impression that K’NEX is more for kids ages 7 and up but they now have toys for kids as young as preschool!

The K’NEX preschool toys include a line of fun and colorful Sesame Street sets.  There are whole sets where you build a building or mini-sets where you build one of your favorite Sesame Street characters.  Now my boys are big into Sesame Street, but they know the characters and love to build, so when I got the chance to check out a whole bunch of the Preschool Collection sets, my boys were thrilled.

What I love about K’NEX is that they are easy to build and play with, colorful and appealing to kids, and they offer some great benefits.

The smaller sets are nice because they come in their own containers which make it nice to take with you or just to store all the pieces together.  My boys love grabbing one of the containers and building and have even learned to put all the pieces back inside it!  The bigger sets make for a nice playset as we built the bigger sets and then incorporated the smaller sets and other toys (cars, figurines…) for creative play time!  I decided though that it was easier to throw all the pieces from the two building sets in one big box rather than put them in the individual boxes since my boys were interchanging them anyways.

With each K’NEX Sesame Street set there is a paper booklet that includes pictures of what you can build and what pieces come with each set and it includes activities to do.  For example, with Cookie Monster’s Basket Building Set, it suggests walking around your house and picking out round items like the basketball Cookie Monster has, naming red and black items, talking about sports you like, and sorting the pieces.  I think this is especially great because I am not very creative when it comes to playing and with this booklet it gives me ideas on how to teach my kids while playing!  I do wish though the booklet was laminated or more durable as my youngest son decided he likes to rip them apart!

Overall, I am very pleased with K’NEX and know that there will be many more sets in the future.  I love that I can trust the K’NEX brand and the K’NEX website makes picking the right products easy.  You can search by Theme, Age, Price, Product Theme or even Education!  It can be heard to find appropriate toys for certain ages, but K’NEX makes it easy and fun to pick out toys.  There is even a K’NEX Club for kids, and a section for parents and educators that are all Free!  I definitely recommend checking out K’NEX products next time you need a toy for your child or as a gift as they have so much to offer and the website makes it easy to find the perfect item.
