ABOUT:
You can plan your summer vacation down to the absolute ultimate detail, but you can’t plan for the “uh, ohs.” A cold falls squarely into this category. Maybe you picked it up on the plane, maybe a guest in your hotel gave it to you. However you caught it, what do you do about it on your vacation (your hard-earned, once-a-year vacation), especially if you’re in a remote locale?
You can handle most aspects of a cold or cough, or even an allergy with a portable kit called SymptomPak™. SymptomPak™ is like a first aid kit for your cold. It is a small, blue box that features five of the ingredients most often needed for colds, cough, fever, and flu. The individual ingredients come in separate bottles, rather than in one multi-symptom pill or liquid. You can treat only the symptoms you have, instead of taking doses of medication for symptoms you don’t have, which might render you sleepy or groggy.
SymptomPak™ makes having a cold even more manageable by including a small pill box in the “Pak”, so you can take your chosen medication(s) with you when you go sight-seeing or helicoptering around a volcano, for instance. Each bottle in the “Pak” contains 30 tablets, which should get you, or anyone who is traveling with you, through your vacation much more comfortably and safely. It’s better to take what you’re familiar with than taking drugs in a foreign country where you might not recognize the ingredients.
MY THOUGHTS:
So first off I want to say I don’t take medicine unless I really feel bad. I just hate the way I feel after I take most medicines. I am drowsy or crabby or worst yet I still have symptoms. I basically tough it out. It is also confusing as to what medicine to take sometimes because you may have only one of the symptoms noted on the medicine. For example, right now my husband has something going on with his nose as far as congestion and pressure goes, but he doesn’t have any of problems, so with Symptom Pak he can just take 2 tablets of the Phenylephrine. Let’s say your symptoms are Sinus Pressure and Chest Congestion than you would take Phenylephrine and Guaiffenesin.
I know it may sound strange to take these pills separately, but why treat symptoms you don’t have? Inside the Symptom Pack there are the five bottles of pills (Acetaminophen, Phenylephrine, Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, and Chlorpheniramine), a Symptom card, and a small pill holder. The Symptom card includes possible illness combinations and tells you what pills to take. Symptom Pak is for ages 6 and up. The Symptom Pak also allows you to be prepared for all of your family illnesses from one kit, rather than having to run out an buy medicine for each family member and then not using it up. Oh and if you end up really liking one of the Symptom Pak bottles, you can buy refills and not have to buy a whole pak again.
Overall, Symptom Pak is definitely different but I can see a market for it. It is very user friendly by using colorful bottles and dots to notate which symptoms you have and which pills to take. It is actual FDA-approved medications, not a natural, herbal or homeopathic product. Each is known to be safe and effective and contains the same effective ingredients as most of the cold and flu products sold over the counter.
BUY IT: SymptomPak is available on leading internet sites such as Amazon.com, Drugstore.com, Target.com, Rite Aid.com and Health Warehouse.com. For more information visit www.symptompak.com.
