MY THOUGHTS:

Honestly when I think of Oreck I picture the commercials with the old man lifting the vacuum up.  My mom thinks of vacuums being sold door to door.  I cannot believe I mis-judged Oreck all these years.  The Oreck Pilot is awesome!  First off it is self-propelled, which basically means you turn it on and it goes!  There is no pushing or heavy weight holding you back, this vacuum glides right around the house with ease that even my skinny 3 year old can push it with no problem!  This would definitely be a big plus for elderly who don’t have the upper body strength to push around a big vacuum or just a mom who needs the extra strength to get through yet another day of vacuuming!  There is even a handle on the bag that you can use to hang the vacuum if you like since it is only 10 pounds.  (To put weight into perspective my other brand upright is 18 pounds and that is one of the lighter ones.)

I could not believe the difference too when I vacuumed our family room rug, it was like a whole new rug, which is scary because that is where my boys spend most of their time.  It is nice to know that I am also helping out with our allergies as it traps up to 99.9% of dust and allergens.  The side brushes are nice because not only does it groom my carpet but also gets the edges of our carpet very nicely.  Maneuvering it is a breeze as I can practically lay it down to clean under couches and the handle not only makes it comfortable to hold, but also it turns easily all around.  There is also a 30ft. cord so you can clean more without stopping and plugging in the cord somewhere else.

The two flaws I saw at first with the Oreck Pilot are that it requires bags and it doesn’t have a pull-out handle.  Well bags are actually not so bad since they help contain smells and dirt, and they are not too expensive to buy.  I have been using my vacuum for a few weeks now and my bag seems to be fine.  As far as the handle goes I actually think this vacuum maneuvers in spots where I usually need the handle part so I don’t miss it.  As a bonus too, all upright vacuums come with a separate lightweight Handvac!  So you actually get two vacuums for one price!  The HandVac is so cool, it does have to be plugged in, but it has a strap so you can wear it like a purse and then walk around with the hose  to get in those corners, crevices, and stairs.  I love the Hand Vac too for small cleaning tasks and it is so lightweight that I don’t mind wearing it on my shoulder!

So far I have had everyone that comes over check out my new vacuum and everyone has been impressed.  I actually have been like “Hey you want to try out my new vacuum?” My friends and family has all been surprised at how smooth, quiet, quick, and effective it is!  I would definitely recommend the Oreck Pilot to anyone, especially if you are looking for a lightweight vacuum that has super-powers!  Okay so maybe it doesn’t have super powers but it definitely cleans my floors – both carpet and hardwood  well enough for me to not mind cleaning!  I hate having to re-do spots where dirt just didn’t pick up and the Oreck leaves nothing behind!
