I didn’t think I would change when I became a mom, but I have. I have matured, opened my heart more than I ever thought possible became worried, cried for joy, and actually became my mother! I think about how ten years ago I was actually just starting college and looking forward to new friends, parties, and all the other fun college experiences that shouldn’t be spoken outside of college! I graduated in four years, worked, met my husband and got married. A little more than a year later I had my first child. Since then I haven’t missed college because I now have a new challenge I am embarking on – Motherhood. When I got pregnant nine months after my first son, I was worried that I wouldn’t love him as much as my first child, but it is like my heart grew and matured even more. I learned to multi-task like there is no tomorrow, I carry strange items in my purse (which I traded from designer to washable), and I learned to love cartoons (or at least tolerate them).
There are so many more ways that I have changed, but I truly will say motherhood is the best thing that ever happened to me. I now hang out with neighbors who also have kids and I am sure when my kids are in school I will have even more playdates. Also, now that my kids are 2 and 3 years old, I am finally getting back into dressing how I did pre-mom and wearing makeup and getting my hair highlighted! I was pretty plain and frumpy for a few years, but with a newborn I had an excuse! Now I am looking forward to my boys growing, maybe having more children, and growing with my husband who I unfortunately have neglected a little bit since we had children. I look forward to date nights now, but I also look forward to family movie nights and any other family time I can squeeze in.
