Zuvo Water Purator Review (& Giveaway Ends 8/8)

ABOUT:

Zuvo Water Filtration System uses a 5-Step Process to produce clean, healthy, and great tasting water.

STEP 1:  OZONATION – The Zuvo Purator mixes ozone with incoming tap water to treat taste and odor contaminants and improve taste.  Ozone leaves no chemical residue.

STEP 2:  ULTRAVIOLET LIGHT – The ozone saturated water is flooded with high-intensity UV light (the same way solar energy cleans water in the upper atmosphere.)

STEP 3:  PHOTO-OXIDATION – The Zuvo Water Purator combines UV and ozone in a patented process, which releases powerful oxidizers to further treat the water.

STEP 4:  FILTRATION WITH LEAD REMOVAL – Zuvo uses the same principle as spring water passing through fine particles in the earth to reduce chlorine taste and odor, lead, and tiny particulates.  It uses a Class 1 Particulate Reduction Filter.

STEP 5:  POST-FILTRATION UV – The filtered water is again exposed to high-intensity UV light as it leaves the Zuvo Water Purator.

MY THOUGHTS:

The Zuvo Water Filtration System can either be installed to sit on your countertop or under the sink.  The countertop installation easily and quickly connects to most standard faucets, while the under-counter installation connects to a Zuvo Butler Faucet (sold separately).  I choose the Under-Counter installation as I wanted it out of sight and I already had a hole in my sink to install the Zuvo Butler Faucet.  I also couldn’t install in on my counter-top because my sink has the sprayer attached so there wouldn’t be a way to install the Zuvo onto it.

Now in my house we do buy bottled water but it is mainly for guests or to take with us places.  We also keep a pitcher in our fridge with filtered water.  Now I am not a picky water drinker, but I will say our water is not the greatest and any help is better than none.  I also worry about all the contaminants in water and my kids drinking it.  I will admit though I can’t remember the last time I replaced my filter cartridge in my pitcher as I have been waiting for them to go on sale.  In the short run, I will say filters for a pitcher do seem cheaper than a Zuvo filter ($30 each and need to be replaced every 6 months) but after a year’s use you will only pay $0.06 per gallon while a pitcher filter goes up to $0.27 a gallon.

When I first showed my husband the Zuvo Water Filtration System and Butler Faucet, he looked at me like I was crazy.  You see my husband is a computer programmer, not handyman although he can do basic stuff around the house.  In about an hour he had the Zuvo Water Filtration System installed and ready to go, I was amazed!  I looked at the instructions and they seemed pretty clear and easy, and apparently they were because my husband did it!  The part that took the longest was probably drilling thru our cabinets, as he had to get to an outlet to plug in the Zuvo.  Yes that is one thing to consider also is that you need an outlet nearby.  We were originally going to install this in our upstairs sink but we would have needed an electrician to run an outlet for us, so I had my husband put this on our basement sink since the install wouldn’t be so complicated.  I also want to add that the Zuvo Water Filtration System only uses electricity when it’s on, which is about 27 watts of power a day, which shouldn’t impact your electric bill.

Okay so with a Zuvo Water Filtration System the initial cost is $299.  The filters cost $30 each and need to be replaced twice a year and the UV lamp lasts 7-10 years and then costs $80 to replace. You also don’t have to use filtered Zuvo water if you don’t water to, for example if you are just filling up a pot to boil water or cooking something.  I love that the Zuvo is going to save me money and still produce fresh tasting healthy water for my family!
