Fundex Games Review

ABOUT:

Found in 1986, Fundex Games, Ltd., is a privately-held company from Indianapolis, Indiana.  The company produces a wide selection of board games, dice games and card games for kids of all ages to adults!  Fundex also has a line of outdoor products including Recreation Games and swimming pool games.  Their motto is “Where fun comes first!”

MY THOUGHTS:

It is no secret that I love board games and even though I also love technology and video games, I still think it is important to have quality time over a good board game.  Now that my boys are getting older I think it is going to be great to have a family game night.  I also think a lot can be learned from board games, including counting, taking turns, making decisions, all while having fun!

Privacy

Ages 12+     Players:  2-8

A Ballot Box of Fun! This secret ballot game will keep you guessing so vote early and vote often! Players vote by answering a question and placing a Yes or No reply disc in the secret envelope and dropping it into the ballot box. Honesty counts, so answer truthfully. Then predict how many Yes answers are in the box. Guessing the correct number or coming closest to it wins you big points.

I have only played this game with my husband so far, but I can definitely see the party possibilities with it.  Privacy is basically an Anonymous version of Truth or Dare!  It has random questions that you have to answer anonymously and then you guess how many people answered yes and no.  I think you definitely need at least four people to really appreciate the game, and if drinks are involved I can see some major fun!  It is also a fun way to find out more about your partner as you have to guess whether or not they did something!

Anti-Virus

Ages 7+     Players:  1+

Choose 1 of 60 challenges from the game booklet and arrange the pieces as indicated. You must manipulate the pieces so that you can push the red “virus” piece out of the game board through the exit in the top corner. Remember: The pieces can only move diagonally, and pieces CAN move in a group!

Okay so this game took me a little to catch on, but once I did it got harder!  Yes you can start off easy and then move onto challenging puzzles.  What I really like about this game though is that all the pieces, board and book included, fit into a nice zipper bag so you can easily store or take with you for fun on the go!  My sons like to push the colors around, but don’t understand it yet because they are so young, so for now I get it all to myself and sometimes have to share with my husband! It actually reminds me of a game I used to play on the computer and this is a nice break from technology to sit down and work on.  They can be very quick or very frustrating!

Mouse Match

Ages 3+     Players: 2-4

Chase the Cheese to Victory! These mischievous mice can sniff out fun, so follow them through the tunnels and collect the cheese! Players take turns pushing their mouse through a tunnel to see if the emerging mouse matches the color of the cheese on the game board. Go for the Golden Cheese and score a big bonus! Matches mean more cheese, and the player with the most at the end of the game is the winner! Includes game board, six mice, cheese slices, bag and instructions.

What kid doesn’t think mice are cute?  This game is adorable as it comes with a nice bag to store all the pieces, although the big board doesn’t fit.  My kids love this game as it is perfect for 3 year olds and my little guy likes to help.  You basically push the mice through the tunnels and need to match your color.  No reading required for kids and fun to match the mice with cheese.  I can definitely see why this game won Parents Magazine Toy of the Year Award last year as it has everything you would want in a game for a preschooler!

What’s in Ned’s Head?

Ages  4+     Players:  2-4

The gross-out game kids love so much that they voted it #1! This game has been presented with several awards this year, making it a must-have. What’s in Ned’s Head? Who knows? His lost lunch (fake vomit)? Moldy cheese? A rat? Reach into Ned’s nostrils or ears and race to find the silly object pictured on your card. This wacky-fun game is guaranteed to keep kids giggling for hours!

Okay first off I will say this game is gross, but in a fun way!  You fill this giant plush Ned’s Head (it pops open) with the weird items like a spider, q tip, dirty diaper and more then you take turns sticking your hand in through his ears to feel around for that item.  Very easy for my kids to play and they love it!  We have even added other objects (toys) inside to make it a little harder or so they can find other objects.  Everything fits neatly in the box, which I was happy with because like I said Ned’s Head pops up pretty big!  (It is about the size of a couch pillow.)

Smart Games:  Castle Logix

Ages 3+     Players:  1+

Choose 1 of 48 challenges in the game booklet Arrange the pieces (4 blocks, 3 towers total) to replicate    the structure shown in the challenge.  Remember: blocks have two orientations as indicated by the designs on opposite sides.

This game was a little tricky also as I progressed through the book.  My 3 year old hasn’t grasped yet to match the blocks to the pictures in the book as he is too fascinated with playing with the castle pieces!  I think it is a great game to get kids thinking in their favorite way – building!  All you do is look a  picture and try to build your castle like the picture, but it gets tricky.  Very fun to again take a break from technology and think!

Overall, I was really excited I got the chance to add a bunch of Fundex games to our game collection! I now had some great ones to play with my boys, some to play by myself to keep me thinking, and one to play with my husband and friends!  I highly recommend them as they as are fun, educational, and there are just so many to choose from!

Here are some other fun games I noticed:
