Glasses or Contacts?

Lately I have been really lazy and leaving my contacts in and have been wearing my glasses every day.  When I first started wearing Contact lenses about two years ago I was crazy about wearing my contacts every day because I was so excited about not having to wear my glasses.  I felt like a whole new woman.  My confidence was definitely boosted and I really do like the way I look without my glasses.  My eyes shine brighter and with some eye makeup, I really feel great.  Something about looking good just makes me feel better and I actually function better.

So lately I have been really lazy about putting my contacts in.  It doesn’t help that I have Astigmatism so putting contacts in is still something that I am not used to.  I still struggle with popping them in and out.  They are supposed to last two weeks but my eyes seem to reject them sooner and burn.  My other problem is that I always put on eye makeup and if I happen to put that on before my contacts then I worry about getting makeup in my eyes.

So here I am some days wearing contacts, some days wearing glasses.  Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind glasses in general, but as a mom with two active boys I now have a problem.  My sons think my glasses are a toy and don’t quite understand why sometimes mommy has them on and other times I don’t.  My 3 year old actually thinks it is hysterical to put on my glasses and walk around the house.  I am just waiting for the day when he leaves them on the floor and they get stepped on or even lost.  Maybe I will just do what my husband did and get lasik surgery!

  • Which brand of contacts are you using? I use Acuvue Oasys for astigmatism and I love them! They are the best contacts I've ever owned :)

  • My vote- lasik! I'm a receptionist at an eye doctors office and I hear people all the time talk about how they love their life after lasik! Get a consult and see if you're eligible!

    • I am leaning towards it, but our insurance doesn't cover it so it is something we have to save up for.

  • I used to wear contacts too (can't believe you just started two years ago). I stopped wearing them about 10 years ago and now I'm just too lazy to go get new ones so I stink with glasses.

    • Yeah I was worried about putting them in so I kept putting off the exam. I hate the glaucoma and dilated test!
