Allens Quality Canned Vegetables Review

ABOUT:

Since 1926, Allens has been producing a variety of products including beans, greens, spinach and sweet potatoes.  They are actually the nation’s leader in canned and frozen vegetables producing brands including Veg-All, Freshlike and Popeye’s spinach.  All of the Allens’ labels canned products are gluten free.  They are also Heart Healthy products which means cholesterol free and Saturated Fat Free.

MY THOUGHTS:

My family and I love vegetables and I make sure every dinner we have at least one.  It can definitely be hard to serve up a variety of vegetables as I usually don’t have a lot of time to cook dinner to begin with let alone whip up fancy side dishes.  Well thanks to Allens vegetables, I can leave it up to them to be creative!  I got the chance to try out three of their canned products:  Seasoned Green Beans & Potatoes with Vidalia Onion, Hoppin’ John with Blackeye Peas, Tomatoes, Onions & Jalapenos, and Triple Succotash – a blend of tomatoes, corn and butter beans.

I had never tried Allens canned vegetables before, but I had try their other brands like Freshlike and Veg-All before.  I was so happy I got to try these products out and can’t believe I was missing out on them.  First off, they are so easy to cook whether I cook them on the stovetop or microwave for two minutes.  My favorite is definitely the Green Beans & Potatoes with Vidalia Onion.  They are so rich and full of flavor and are a great vegetable combination!  The Triple Succotash was an interesting combination but added something different to our meals.  My sons really liked them because of the different colors and they were fun to eat.  I didn’t try the Hoppin’ John because I don’t like jalapenos but my husband enjoyed them.  Overall, Allens vegetables are a great way to add a healthy side dish to your dinners.  With all the varieties, there is definitely something for everyone’s tastes!
