MY THOUGHTS:

Now I may be bias because I have never used an eReader before, but I really like the Kobo eReader.  First off it is so reasonably priced at $139 that it is actually affordable. As an avid book reader, I really do like the feel of a book and the crisp pages, so I was worried about reading a book on the Kobo, but when they say its “Easy on the eyes” it really is!  The screen is so easy to read off of and I love that I can change the font size or style if I need to, or if someone else is using it and needs a bigger font.

My favorite feature though would be the 100 free complete eBooks that comes with it.  Now they are mainly Classics like Dracula, Aesop’s Fables, and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, but they are the complete novel and since they are already there I find myself  reading them!  Buying books from the Kobo website is super easy and although they can be expensive ($9.99 and up) they are the same price as other eReader books.  I did find it super easy to use to navigate the books and pages, it also saves the books you are reading and your page so you can quickly pull it up.  The books also display nicely on a virtual bookshelf or as a list.

Overall, I really love my Kobo eReader.  It is so lightweight and easy to keep in my purse.  I used to pull out my iPod Touch and use that to read books but the screen was so small and with the glare it was hard to read.  The Kobo eReader is especially perfect for people who are not all about technology, for example my mom would love this eReader because it is so simple and all she has to do is plug the USB cord into her computer and shop for books if she wants, but the 100 free ebooks should keep her busy for awhile!  Don’t knock the Kobo eReader though for its no frills as it is not meant to do anything other than display books for you to read, so you can’t surf the internet on it or play games but it is definitely rocks at being an eReader!  The Kobo eReader is basically a no frills, barebones eReader perfect for anyone who really just wants to read!

  • I haven't tried it, but have been curious how this compared. I just started offering my books in Kobo format too.

  • This looks like a nice thing to own! I'm an avid reader, so I'm still in the whole real book vs. eReader debate. This review helps a little bit though!

    Thank you :)

  • I keep debating on an eReader b/c I love the feel of an actual book in my hands, but you have me curious.
