{Holiday Gift Guide} Toy Story Action Links Stunt Sets Review

My boys love Toy Story, as do all the neighborhood kids, so when I got the chance to host a Mattel Toy Story 3 Action Links party I knew it would be a hit.  Honestly I didn’t even know what they were at first but I figured anything with “Toy Story” and “Action” in the title had to be fun, and I was right!

The Toy Story 3 Action Links sets start off with the biggest set which is “Junkyard Escape” then go on to include “Jessie to the Rescue,” “Sunnyside Breakout,” “Evil Dr. Porkchop Attacks,” and “Buzz Saves the Train.”  Each set can be used independently or you can connect them all together for chain reaction fun!  The set remind me of the game Mouse Trap, where you connect pieces together to watch stunts.

Some of the kids really liked just playing with the Toy Story figurines from the sets!

I was worried that my boys wouldn’t get it as it is for ages 5 and up, but I did have my 12 year sister over as well as some kids between 5-7 years old.  I think though the 3 year olds had the most fun with it – although they needed help setting everything back up.

(Setting it up originally)

If you saw Toy Story 3 then this set is sure to bring back memories and make you laugh!  My boys recognized a lot of the set pieces from the movie.  Connecting all five sets was very easy and we probably had everything opened and up within fifteen minutes – yes its very easy to piece together.  The only part that was really time consuming was opening up the packages, although I was happy to see that they were pretty much put together already in the boxes.

Each set came like this – pretty much already put together!

What is great about the sets like I said earlier is that you don’t have to buy all five to have fun.  The biggest set Junkyard Escape is about  $30 with the smaller sets being between $8-$11 each. Junkyard Escape comes with three figurines and includes five stunts to build, which the smaller sets include 1-2 figurines and 2-3 stunts to build.  So yes if you have all five then you will have a total of 14 stunts and 8 figurines.  You can also buy the figurines in Buddy Packs which include 2 Toy Story 3 characters.  Overall, I think the Toy Story 3 Action Links sets are very fun and love that you can also mix them up.  There is no set order so you can constantly change up the order for a change and they really do snap together very easily.  I don’t really see any flaws other than if you have younger kids than you will have to constantly re-set all the stunts!  Very fun though for all ages!  Oh and the best part, none of the sets need batteries!

Here is also a quick 20 second clip of the stunt set in action:
