Throwing A Game Day Party of Less than $5 per Person #digiornogt

Since we are the only ones of our friends with kids, we typically have people over for Game Day (usually Sunday.)  I don’t mind since I can usually get great prices at my local Wal-Mart on snacks and beverages.  Everyone usually brings something anyways so we always have plenty of food to pick at!

My must-have staple for Game Days are pizza – mainly DiGiorno Rising Crust Pizzas.  We are hooked on them and at less than $5 a pizza it is a great way to splurge a little and have a great pizza.  I will say in the past I bought the cheaper brands since I could get more for my money but I found that since the DiGiorno pizzas are thicker and full of more ingredients, people enjoy it and don’t scarf down like they would the thinner pizzas.

I typically don’t make a list, but rather wander down each aisle and scan the shelves, but I do check my fridge at home before I go and quickly browse for coupons.  For this weekend’s game I headed over to Wal-Mart with my youngest who was not happy to go to Wal-Mart.  I was disappointed that they only had Pepperoni and Cheese DiGiorno pizzas but I knew I would have to head to my local grocery store anyways for other items that my small Wal-Mart doesn’t carry.

A typical Game Day Plan for about 8 adults and 2 kids – keeping in mind a less then $5 budget per person:

  • (3) DiGiorno Rising Crust Pizza        $15
  • 2-liters                                                     $5
  • Beer                                                          $12
  • Chips and Dips                                      $8
  • Other (chicken, beef…)                        $8

As far as my list goes I am not too particular with everything other than the pizza (we love DiGiorno in my house) so I will buy whatever is on sale.  I sometimes am able to adjust my budgeted money since we may have snacks or beverages left over from the previous Game Day!  I do feel though that Wal-Mart gives me the best prices and will always buy what I can from them first.  I don’t think either I have seen the DiGiorno pizzas for less than $4.48 and one pizza can feed 2-3 people, because people don’t scarf it down but enjoy it!  Overall I think I did good and know I will have leftovers.  I do try to stop up to if something I normally buy goes on sale since I know we will use it the following Sunday for Game Day!
