So I didn’t know what to expect when we sat down for the Monster Jam show this weekend at the Allstate Arena, but it wasn’t fun. I was determined to put on a happy face and suck it up because I knew my boys would absolutely love it and they have sat through enough shows to deserve it. My boys are 2 and 4 years old and love cars with a capital “L.” The show started out with a guy introducing the show and then some dirt bike riders came out to warm up the show.
Next the monster trucks started appearing and all lined up to perform a quick trick. Grave Digger, which is a popular monster truck, went first and immediately flipped over. My son got so excited not just to see the truck flipped over but then a construction truck came out to pull it back over. The rest of the trucks did their tricks and it was pretty cool to see them go! The show did have some slow spots where the trucks were warming up and the dirt bike riders weren’t that exciting for me at least.
Gavin’s favorite car – because it was a dog, tail included!

Crazy robot thing!
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do…..Batman!
Lots of trucks!
Crazy!
The Allstate Arena floor seemed so small with all the trucks on there and it was amazing to see them all do their jumps and spin around. After the trucks had their quick turns in the beginning, they then raced each other competing two at a time. My favorite part though was the Freestyle part at the end where each truck had a chance to show off their tricks and skills. The trucks were awesome at that point and did all sorts of crazy jumps and dirt spins. The dirt was flying all over and even hit some audience members! The show lasted about two hours and it really was great! We will definitely be going ever year!
Also, just to add we did wear earplugs and my kids did wear the big earphone covers. It was loud but I don’t think it was too terrible, but I am glad we had our earplugs. Overall, I really did like the show and I am not a car or truck fan. It was a great family experience and great for all ages!

i think you mean it "was" fun? the first sentence says ", but it wasn't fun", but then the rest of the entry seems to indicate it *was*fun?
Nope that's right. I wasn't expecting it to be fun but it was!
Glad your boys had a great time! I'd love to take my boys sometime. I think they'd absolutely enjoy it.
For two years my husband did the Tough Trucks part at the Monster Jam when it came to our area. Tough Trucks is where local, regular guys jump their trucks on the ramps and go fast. It's to keep the crowd entertained when the actual Monster Trucks aren't on stage. I went with him, since my admission was free. I was lucky enough to be in the pits with all the drivers and meet with them and get autographs. The experience was awesome.
I'm not sure though how it would be to be an actual spectator since I've not done that before. It can be a little pricey.
I wouldn't have thought it would be that cool, but your pictures show otherwise! Looks really fun!
It was definitely worth it but I agree it can get expensive. I think kids tickets are always $10, not sure about adult tickets. Parking for us was $20, which is a lot more than we are used to. For snacks we popped our own popcorn at home and brought it in ziploc bags along with some candy and bottles of water! They didn't check bags at our venue.
My 4 and 5 yr olds are totally obsessed with Monster Jam. We totally want to go to Monster Jam when it comes to Pittsburgh, but prices are a little much for the family of 4 (once you factor in parking and snacks and such...)
Looks like so much fun though!
Monster truck shows are definitely not my cup of tea, but I can tell your boys LOVED it from the pictures {too adorable by the way}!
I'm glad you all got to go :)
Wow! That does seem pretty cool!
