CD Review: Bobby Long “A Winter Tale” (& Giveaway Ends 3/28)

A Winter Tale

Released:  February 1, 2011

ABOUT:

British singer-songwriter Bobby Long is embarking on a North American concert tour this year as a headliner for his long-awaited recording debut, A Winter Tale.  It is a collection of 11 original songs, produced by Grammy winner Liam Watson that was released February 1, 2011.

Bobby Long is probably best know as the songwriter behind “Let Me Sign” featured in the blockbuster film Twilight  (in the movie it was sung Robert Pattinson.) His music is deeply rooted in American folk, blues, and country.  The lyrics Bobby writes are memorable melodies with a poetic touch to them.

MY THOUGHTS:

I had no clue what to expect with this CD, but I do like the song “Let Me Sign” which Bobby Long wrote.  The music is folksy and bluesy, and I can definitely see the comparison to Bob Dylan.  While it is not really music I can jam out to or sing along to, I find it really nice to listen to while driving or working on my computer.  For me it is great background music.  Its not that I don’t like Bobby Long’s voice, I do, but the song words are just not something I’d sing along to.  The songs are really all great and soothing for me, a few are a little more upbeat must mostly they are jazz like and remind me of folk music.  I also love the different instruments used which spice up the songs!
