Disney Social Media Moms: Day 1 “Fairy Tale Weddings & More” #DisneySMMoms

My first day at the Disney Social Media Moms Conference started Thursday morning when I checked into the Grand Floridian’s hospitality suite.  I received a packet of information and of course some great Disney goodies, but it was really just exciting to be there and start seeing other bloggers I had both met and hadn’t met before.  After checking in, I rushed off with my family to Magic Kingdom for a few hours before my first Disney Social Media Event “Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons Platinum Soiree.”

Magic Kingdom was a blast and it was truly special because it was my 2 year old’s first time and he gets really excited about things!  Everything was “Owww” “Ahhhh” and “Me Me!”  We hit up most of the big rides at the park since we didn’t want to waste any time!

Then it was time to split from my family for the Fairy Tale Wedding Event over at the Grand Floridian Wedding Pavillion.  It is a somewhat chapel off the beach perfect for any wedding or to renew your vows.  Of course we had to celebrate in true Disney style which meant their were special guests and fun.  Two of the guests were Carley Roney from The Knot and David Tutera from My Fair Wedding, both who talked about weddings on a budget but still making them perfect.

We had a mini-fashion show showing off The Disney Fairy Tale Weddings by Alfred Angelo collection.  It is a wedding dress collection inspired by the style and personality of the seven iconic Disney Princess characters:  Ariel, Aurora/Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Cinderella, Jasmine, Snow White and Tiana.  We saw all the dress designs and they are absolutely beautiful.  As a girl who grew up loving all the princesses, I could only imagine how awesome it would be to wear a dress inspired by one of the them.  All of the dresses are also affordably priced from $599 to $1199 in sizes 0 to 30W.

Some Disney Fairy Tale Wedding Fast Facts:

  • Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2011.
  • Couples have traveled from every state in the United States and from international locations such as Japan, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands to get married at Walt Disney World Resort.
  • According to wedding industry experts, Walt Disney World Resort continues to be recognized as the top-ranked venue for honeymoons and destination weddings.
  • Disney’s Fairy Tale Weddings & Honeymoons launched Ever After Blog (DisneyWeddingsBlog.com), the first Disney blog outside of the Disney Parks Blog.  Also, couples can connect on Facebook (Facebook.com/DisneyWeddings), Twitter (Twitter.com/DisneyWeddings) and YouTube (YouTube.com/DisneyWeddings) with past, present and future couples.

To truly experience a Disney wedding, we got to see a couple who had their own Disney wedding just two years ago, renew their vows.  It was a very quick version, but the finish of it included fireworks and a ride in the Cinderella carriage for the couple!  It was truly a magical ceremony and something that I would love to do eventually to re-new my vows with my husband.

To finish off the evening, we headed to the Grand Floridian Seven Seas Lagoon white-sand shores for dinner and fun.  The food was of course great and including a kid-size buffet, perfect for my boys to show me what they wanted to eat!  There were fun carnival games for kids and a few characters stopped by.  The best part though was the sand toys for the kids to play with on the beach, you would have thought my sons never played with sand before!  The weather was awesome and the beach was a perfect way to end off the night!

Finally, I got the chance to see the room at the Grand Floridian since my family settled in while I was in the Wedding event.  The room at the Grand Floridian was great.  I admit I liked the Polynesian Resort from last year better, but the Grand Floridian had its own perks.  The room had two Queen beds, a sofa that flipped into a twin bed, comfy chair, a great bathroom area and a balcony!  The building was separate from the main building but we had a great view of the pool and just walking around the Grand Floridian property was nice.

Mom and More Disclosure:  I received discounted hotel accommodations, theme park passes, meals, conference sessions, and some goodies in exchange for my honest opinion.  Please see my Disclosure Policy.
