So the other day, I got into an incredibly crazy line of over 700 people and took my spot (not to mention the 100-150 people that lined up behind me.) I had just drove in from an amazing spa visit at The Abbey Resort (review to come) and went right from Lake Geneva, Wisconsin to Woodfield Mall in Schaumburg, IL.
My husband has been eyeing one ever since the first one came out, but decided to hold out until the 2nd generation one came out. Since we had some extra money from our tax refund (yes of course we could have used it more wisely) I decided to surprise him with an iPad. I was going to surprise him with it when I got home but I knew I would be waiting longer than I could come up with an excuse for I had to tell him. The way the line worked is the Apple employees went around and handed out a ticket to each person depending on which iPad you wanted (size and WiFi/3G). I cannot believe they still had some left but eventually they got to me and I got the ticket for a 16 GB WiFi iPad! To surprise my husband I sent him a picture message of the ticket and said I would be awhile.
(My golden or should I say “white” ticket)
I waited a total of 3 hours which seemed like an eternity. The line wrapped around and was so long. It didn’t move fast and when I reached the store, I still had to wait in another line the length of the store! Since I am 5 months pregnant and had just sat in the car for over 2 hours driving, I was cranky and tired. I ended up paying a girl in line $5 to go buy me a McDonalds coke because I was so thirsty and falling asleep! (She came back and gave me my money back and said not to worry about it – how nice was that!)
It was so funny how everyone in line talked and for that short time we were friends. Of course we didn’t become friends until we all good our tickets! I was so afraid I was going to loose that slip of paper! So after my large Coke, of course I had to pee but I held it. (Yes I sneezed and peed a little bit, but that’s okay I’m pregnant!)
(So close to the entrance!)
So was the wait worth it? Yes. My husband was so happy as were my boys – of course they are all fighting over it now!

Awwww, what a wonderful wife and mother you were to think to do that for your family!! I do have to say I'm pretty envious xD
You ARE such a nice wife. I so want an iPad but ... I haven't justified it quite yet - getting there tho! But I suppose I ought to learn the difference between the different kinds and types and figure out what I really want, huh? I don't think I could have waited in a line like that for ANYthing though. I just don't have the patience :) Yay you, especially at 5 months pregnant! (And yes, I know now...)
Now that's dedication! I'd love to have a new iPad. Super glad you were able to score one.
Very nice! My Hubby would be estatic if I surprised him with that!
I haven't been to Woodfield Mall in ages, because no matter when we go, it's sooo crowded! I think you're an awesome wife for waiting that long, in Woodfield, while being 5 months pregnant!!! : )
Wow. Your husband is so lucky to have you!
