Born Free Baby and Toddler Products Review

ABOUT:

BornFree is the world’s leading BPA-free baby brand with a product line that includes innovative baby bottles, cups and accessories.  Being BPA (Bisphenol-A) free means it is free of potentially dangerous chemicals that may cause developmental and neurological problems in children.  Born Free’s cups and bottles feature the unique BornFree venting system, designed to reduce colic and middle-ear infections.

MY THOUGHTS:

I got the chance to check out a few Born Free products:

Twist ‘N Pop Easy Drink Straw Cup

This 14 fl oz toddler cup has a twist straw mouth with a pop-up soft silicone straw that keeps the straw clean and reduces spills. The cup has removable parts for easy clean up and an ergonomic design making it easy for a child to grip and hold. Available in blue, green, yellow and pink.

My boys love sippy cups with straws, and actually my 4 year refuses to use anything but!  I have found though many sippy cups are designed for younger kids around 9 months – 12 months and up.  The Twist ‘N Pop spill proof straw cup is designed for kids ages 2 and up.  It is also interchangeable with other BornFree baby bottle and toddler products.

I found this cup to be a great size and easy for my little guys (2 and 4) to hold.  Many sippys are only 9 oz and in the summer especially my boys suck down juice and water faster than I can fill it!  Assembling and disassembling the cup is very easy which is nice because it makes it easy to clean and quick to put back together!  Being able to twist the top closed is neat and keeps the straw hygienic.  I will say though that it can be spilled if a child holds it upside and shakes or leaves it laying on its side.  My 4 year old is pretty good about drinking from it and putting it down right, but my 2 year old leaves it laying around and does flip it upside (whether its on purpose or accident.)  Overall though I like the available simple colors, ease of cleaning and size.  Oh and of course the fact that it is free from BPA and PVC is nice!

Vented Glass Bottle (9 oz.)

The BornFree Vented Glass Bottle is made of pure natural glass and is 100% free of BPA. Smooth flow, no leaks!

Features:

  • Nipples available in 5 flow rates – soft and gentle to suit babies 0-18 months.
  • Revolutionary BornFree Venting System – Includes innovative air vent to keep a low level of vaccum which is known to help reduce colic symptoms such as gas and spit up.  It also prevents hard sucking and minimizes the risk of middle-ear infection.
  • New clear glass bottle – With glass there are no left over odors, less build up of bacteria and no after-taste.  Easy to clean and looks and feels like new even after multiple uses.
  • Suitable for breast fed babies – Especially suitable for babies who are being introduced to bottle feeding as it includes a unique air valve that begins the steady flow of liquid when a baby starts to nurse – just like with breast feeding.

I did not use glass bottles with either of my boys, but my mom swears by them and remembers when that was all that was available.  With the whole issue of BPA, glass definitely seems the safest way to go especially since it includes a bunch of other great features like no odor, build up, and clean look.  I have plastic bottles that have definitely seen better days, so I am curious to see how the glass holds up after multiple feedings and washes.  I don’t have a baby to try this bottle out with yet but it definitely seems nice and I love that there is a wide selection of nipples since baby’s grow so fast!  I also breast fed and bottle fed both my boys (and plan to do that with this baby) so I like that it vents and disperses liquid steadily.

Twin Pack CoolFlow Pacifier

The BornFree® CoolFlow pacifier is a orthodontic silicone pacifier with a rounded cherry shaped nipple. Made from materials that are 100% free of BPA, Phthalates and PVC, the BornFree® pacifier features a breathable shield with extra large airholes to reduce moisture around the mouth and raised soft edges to protect sensitive skin. Twin pack. Supplied with a hygienic snap-on cap.

Available Stages
Stage 1: 0-6m
Stage 2: 6m+

Both my boys were pacifier babies and I admit I was thankful for that.  A pacifier soothed them and I definitely needed the rest.  Now even though I don’t have a newborn yet to try out these pacifiers with but I do like them already.  They are wider than I am used to but I like that because it has airholes to reduce moisture (drool) and keep that area from getting chapped and dry.  Being 100% BPA free is great because it is something babies have in their mouths sometimes more than bottles and it would be easy for chemicals to leach out of, luckily this one is safe.  The colors are bright, which is nice to be able to find in the house, crib, diaper bag and so on and I never saw a pacifier with a hygienic snap-on cap before so that will be nice for when we are out.  Oh and finally I love that it is a silicone pacifier and clear because it just seems more natural than those brown rubber pacifiers that are out there.
