e-Book Review: “How to Move from Blogger to WordPress”

MY THOUGHTS:

I moved myself from Blogger to WordPress just over a year ago and it was scary, exciting, confusing, painful and worth it.  I couldn’t afford having someone do it for me and I figured “How hard could it be?”  I did have a little help as another blogger friend of mine was also doing her site at the same time so I was asking her how to move from Blogger to WordPress questions.  (She is actually the one who encouraged me to make the move so I figured the least she could do is help me answer questions!)

Now I had no clue about WordPress at all, other than you had to pay for it (unlike Blogger) but it offered more customization and I hadn’t heard anyone say they regret making the move.  I remember though crying (literally) and rushing over to the local bookstore because my site was down, I was missing comments and I didn’t know where to start.  I didn’t want to bug my friend too much so I searched for a book at the bookstore and found nothing helpful, I tweeted and googled for help.   I received so many great responses it was nice to see how helpful everyone was!

I would have loved to have the book “How to Move from Blogger to WordPress” to help walk me through.  Now even though I have been on WordPress for over a year, I am still by no means an expert and am constantly trying to learn new things for WordPress.

First off the e-book comes with a Check List, which is a great list to make sure you don’t miss anything!  The book is broken up into chapters and has a total of 96 pages.  I am still amazed at how helpful this book is and really wish I would have had to when I did my move to WordPress.  Even if you are considering switching it is a great book just to check out and see if you understand it all.  There are screenshots, steps to follow and it is an easy to read e-book.  Now some things are different because of the different hosts (I use Hostgator) and different themes you could choose from.  Switching to WordPress is still scary but this book would definitely alleviate some stress and be a great starting point.  Even though I made my switch so long ago I found helpful tips and resources to check out.
