One line of products that Summer Infant carries are various types of monitoring, devices including: Video, Audio, and Prenatal. I got the chance to try out one of their video monitors, which is a Day and Night color version.

The Slim&Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor comes in two pieces – the Baby’s Unit which is the camera and the Parent’s Hand-Held unit. The Baby’s Unit comes with everything you need to hook it up and mount it, including a A/C adapter and mounting kit for tabletop or wall-mounting option. There are even LED lights for viewing the baby in darkened room. The Parent’s Hand-Held unit is 2.4 GHz digital device so you have a private connection with a 350 foot range! The screen size is decent at 2.5 inches and with day viewing the LCD displays color and with night vision you can view your baby in black and white. The unit has so many great features (some I would have never thought of) including “timing out” to save batteries, rechargeable batteries up to 12 hours (included), visual sound lights and a belt clip/stand to hold it. You can even add up to three additional cameras. Oh and an A/C adapter is included to recharge the battery.
I had this camera out of the box and set up within minutes. It was so easy and I love that it came with the adapter and batteries required so I didn’t have to go searching. I plugged the monitor in my sons room for now to try it out and since it is temporarily (it will go in the baby’s room when she’s ready) I didn’t mount it, but it does look easy to mount. The cord too for the unit is super long which is nice if you wanted to mount it up high or run the cord along the wall. I plugged the parent unit in our room to charge and it immediately worked for me. I could not believe the quality of the picture, I had heard that video monitors usually have poor picture quality but this one from Summer Infant works awesome! I tried it in both color (day) and black and white (night) versions and I was able to see everything just fine!
This camera is going to be a life saver when the baby comes because I remember so many nights worrying about my boys when they were babies and sneaking in to peek on them. With the Summer Infant video monitor I can check it as many times as I want, whenever I want to make sure the baby is safe and sound. If I don’t want to watch the video portion, you can turn off the video portion and just listen to the audio or you can check the sound lights to see if your baby is crying – great if you are are in a noisy room or don’t have the sound up. You can also hook the unit up to a television with included cord but I haven’t tried this option out yet though.
Overall, I am very impressed with the Summer Infant Slim&Secure Handheld Color Video Monitor (model 02800). It is easy to set-up and use and the quality is better than I expected. I think this unit will be helpful too from infant and up so I will get plenty of use out of it as my child grows – I know right now I like that I can peek at my 3 and 4 year old to make sure they aren’t up to anything!

This is the monitor we use and it is WONDERFUL! I love having a video monitor because it really helps you determine if you really need to into the baby's room or if he just needs a few minutes to self soothe. I also like the sound bar on the top. If baby is making really LOUD noise, the bar slide up into the red range. This is helpful because even if you have the volume turned all the way down the bar will slide up into the red giving you a visual clue that the baby is crying.
My only complaint is that the battery doesn't last long when fully charged. You can get through the night, but just barely. Granted, I realize most would just plug in the receiver by the bed but we don't. Really just a small complaint.
Overall I agree with your review! This is a GREAT product with quality features.
