ABOUT THE BOOK:

Who doesn’t love pasta? For most kids—and their parents—pasta is the best food in the world. It’s tasty and nutritious, it’s easy, quick, and economical to cook—and, even better, it comes in lots of fun shapes! Here is Annabel’s ultimate collection of one hundred pasta dishes, with a section for babies (it’s a good way to introduce texture) and toddlers (it’s great for fussy eaters), plus a huge variety of quick and easy recipes that older children will enjoy and that will become family favorites!

Filled with color photos, simple instructions, and clear notes on cooking and preparation times, plus symbols throughout to show which recipes are suitable for babies and younger children, and which recipes are suitable for freezing, this is the ultimate pasta cookbook for families everywhere. With Annabel’s help, dinnertime can finally be fuss free!

MY THOUGHTS:

This book is great!  It is full of yummy looking pictures, not necessarily for every recipe but a decent amount.  The recipes are not too complicated either and the directions are easy enough to follow.  The book is separated into the following sections:  Baby, Toddler, Poultry and Pasta, Meaty Menus, Favorite Fish, and Yummy Veggies.

The recipes have the following guidelines at the top:

  • Suitable for “X” month old children
  • Makes “X” amount of portions
  • Preparation Time and Cooking Time
  • Whether or not it is suitable for freezing

I like recipes that are easy to follow and don’t contain too crazy of ingredients, and these recipes really are relatively simple.  Since my newborn obviously isn’t eating solids yet, I made them for my husband and preschoolers and we all loved the few recipes I have tried.  Cheese sauce with butternut squash and Creamy Beef cannelloni are two of our favorites!  I will say there are some seafood recipes in the book that I probably won’t attempt, but there are more recipes I’d like to try than not.  Since my boys love pasta noodles in all shapes and sizes, this book is great to give me inspiration for meals other than spaghetti and butter noodles!  There are also recipes that are relatively quick to prepare (30 minutes or less) and contain ingredients that won’t break the bank.
