Educational Insights: Batter Up! Review (& Giveaway Ends 9/21)

ABOUT:

MY THOUGHTS:

I fully believe that if educational materials are taught in a fun way, they are both more easily comprehended and kids will want to learn more.  Right now even though my boys are both in preschool, they are still learning and it is only a matter of time before they are off to elementary school!

Batter Up! Whole-Class Game

Perfect for spelling and vocabulary words, math facts, science content, and more!

This fun, reusable, whole-class game provides a quick and convenient alternative to a common classroom whiteboard game. Simply divide the class into two teams, write students’ names on the included write-on/wipe-off pieces, and ask any question. If the student answers correctly, he or she spins the dial to determine the “play.” The team with the highest score at the end of the game wins! A great way to practice any subject.

First off I will say the quality of Batter Up! Is awesome!  It is made of sturdy vinyl material that I am sure will last for many years of use for us or would be great for a teacher to use for her students.  The gameboard is set up as a baseball diamond with little pockets to put cards in for each base.  So each “player” picks a card and as they answer correctly they get to move around the bases!  There are tons of baseball player figures too which would be great for a classroom.  You can then use dry erase markers to write in names of teams and keep score on the top of the gameboard.  There is also a spinner on the bottom to see where the player moves to.

Since my boys are little we have used simple questions and matching sheets to play, but I know I will be pulling this out as they get older and have vocabulary words to study and so forth.  I think Batter Up! Makes learning fun and there is nothing wrong with some friendly competition.  It hangs up easily with little loops at the top or you could (like me) just tape it to the wall.  It is a durable and reusable surface that would be a great asset for any parent or teacher to have.  I also want to add that I am not a homeschooling mom but still see so much value in this product!
