MY THOUGHTS:

My husband and I have decent cell phone reception in our house, but my problem is I can never find my cell phone!  So when I heard there were cordless phones out there that you could sync via Bluetooth to your cell phone, I was super excited!  The VTech Call to Connect cordless phone system allows me to sync my cell phone automatically and use my cordless phones for phone calls.  So no more searching for my small black cell phone or rushing downstairs for it – I can answer it anywhere in my house now!  I was able to quickly pair (and un-pair) two cell phones in our household and use regular landline service which we have a Voice over IP, Vonage.

My second favorite feature is that it announces the caller.  Now when I am sitting on the couch holding my newborn, I don’t have to jump up to grab the phone only to read on the Caller ID that its telemarketer.  I simply wait for the announcement and then decide if I am going to go grab the phone.

As far as the call quality goes, I have not had any problems.  The phone works great in my wireless household, which other cordless phones have had issues with wireless signals crossing in our house and our VOIP.  The design of the phones are great and sleek.  There are so many great features on this phone system that I know I haven’t even touched on all of them yet.  I will say though setting up this phone is super quick and easy and it is pretty self-explainable as you just have to scroll through the phone to read what the different features are.

I haven’t used the answering system since I have voicemail with our phone service but it is a nice feature to have on the base station of the phone.  I also haven’t use the Push-to-talk feature so I can’t speak for that either.

So overall, whether you are strictly a cell phone-only household or just want to add cell phone capabilities to your existing landline (or VOIP), this set of VTech phones works great!  I am impressed with it overall and love that I can buy additional handsets (it does though come with three which is a great start!)

BUY IT:  You can purchase the 3 Handset DECT 6.0 Expandable Cordless Phone with Connect to Cell Answering System (DS6421-3) directly through VTech for a suggested price of $99.95 or on sale now for $74.95.  You can also look for VTech phones at your local mass retailer or online.

  • I have a V-tech phone with the same capabilities, and I really like it. I can see they've made an improvement in the design of the handset too. It has nice rounded edges. Mine are squared off and they hurt if I'm on the phone too long.
