Educational Insights: Alpha Catch Review (& Giveaway Ends 11/7)

ABOUT:

Educational Insights is a manufacturer of kids products that have an educational value to them. Their products include classroom products, teacher resources, educational toys, and games. All the products are designed by seasoned educators and parents who know that learning needs to be fun to keep kids engaged.

MY THOUGHTS:

Alpha Catch is an adorable game for kids!  My boys are huge in sports and of course love to throw balls around.

 Alpha Catch

Alpha Catch is the fast-paced, physical way to practice letter names and sounds. Kids take turns tossing self-stick balls, catching them with the sticky catcher’s mitts, and playing fun phonics games about the letters on each ball. It’s a phonemic awareness home run!  Includes 4 catcher’s mitts, 26 soft, self-stick alphabet balls featuring upper- and lowercase letters and teacher’s guide with 7 interactive games.

Games include:

  • Letter Line Up – “What letter is that?”
  • Ace the Sound – “What sound does that letter make?”
  • Beginning Sounds Catch – “Say a word that begins with that sound!”
  • Ending Sounds Catch – “Say a word that ends with that sound!”
  • Middle Sounds Catch – “Say a word that has that sound in the middle!”
  • Word Catch – “Can you make a word with the letters you caught?”
  • Round Robin Play – “All questions above are asked as a group of kids tosses and catches the balls
  • Practices letter names, sounds and beginning phonics

With Alpha Catch you get four catchers mitts and 26 balls with upper and lower case letters.  The balls have a Velcro strip on them so when you toss them at the catchers mitt they stick!  You have kids take turns tossing balls back and forth and the possibilities are endless with what you can do with the letters!

There are seven phonics games recommend to give you ideas and get started.  Since my boys are 3 and 4 and just starting preschool we are working with letters at home.  With my 3 year old, he is still learning all his letter and how to correctly pronounce them and with my 4 year old we are working on putting letters together for words.  Alpha Catch allows kids to have fun throwing balls around and at the same time learning!  My boys think its awesome that I let them throw these balls and since there are four mitts we can all wear the mitts and play.  So my husband and I with our two boys throw balls around and sound out letters and words.  I like to have them name something that starts with the letter that lands on the mitt like “T” and they say tv or M and they say milk.  This would be a perfect game for either kids at home or even in the classroom!

BUY IT: The Alpha Catch can be purchased for $29.99 from Educational Insights or check out the Store Locator for a store that carries Educational Insights products near you!
