TruMoo – Delicious Chocolate Milk – Review

ABOUT:

Dean Foods (known for its 35 regional brands across the country) has just launched a potential solution to the chocolate milk debate, which meets the proposed USDA school nutriton guidelines.   TruMoo Milk is made with real, fresh white milk and includes essential nutrients kids need, including calcium, protein, potassium, phosphorus, riboflavin and vitamins A, D and B12.  The chocolate milk is produced with pure cocoa (no high fructose corn syrup) to make a nutritious snack.  With the introduction of TruMoo, more than 26 million pounds of sugars (or 40 billion calories) have been removed from milk served in schools and retail stores across the country.

MY THOUGHTS:

I always thought milk was milk and it was all good for you.  I also thought of chocolate milk as more of a treat and not a nutritious snack but TruMoo seems like it has a lot of great benefits.  Compared to soda and fruit drinks, TruMoo contains only 2.5 tsp of added sugars compared to 8 tsp.  The sugar that is in TuMoo is mainly lactose which is found in all milk, while sodas and fruit drinks contain added sugars.  I always thought juice was better than chocolate milk, and am so happy I found TruMoo.

The only chocolate milk we usually have is from a powder packet, so when we got the chance to try out TruMoo actual chocolate milk we were pleasantly surprised. The milk is so rich in chocolately goodness.  I probably could have had a few glasses and I am not even a big milk drinker!  TruMoo is really delicious and we are all hooked.  I also feel so much better treating my boys with TruMoo (as well as myself) because it is not only delicious but a wholesome snack!  Normally I send my boys with juice boxes to school for snack time but I can now send them with individual sized TruMoo containers, as well as have a gallon at home for everyday use!

BUY IT:  TruMoo is available in gallons, half gallons, quarts and single serve in the dairy case at many grocers and convenience stores. Use the handy store locator to see if TruMoo is available in your area.

WIN IT: (1) US winner will receive a TruMoo swag bag with a t-shirt, apron, swirly straw and lunch tote!

  • I used to stop at 7-11 on my way home for a chocolate milk snack. Model Dairy Real Chocolate Milk was the best, with a true distinct high-quality chocolate taste. A month or two ago 7-11 replaced it with "TruMoo Chocolate Milk". After trying it twice, I no longer stop at 7-11. TruMoo has a bland, sweet, somewhat chemical taste. If it didn't say "chocolate" on the label I wouldn't even know what it is supposed to be. The ingredient label says "less than 1% cocoa"- from the taste it's probably a LOT less than 1%. BRING BACK REAL CHOCOLATE MILK!!

  • I know this is weird but all of my kids love prunes.LOL!! Thanks for the awesome giveaway :)
