Crayola High-Tech Holiday Review (& Giveaway Ends 1/2) @Crayola #MyBlogSpark

I remember back in the day being so happy with a coloring book and crayons.  While my boys do like the occasional coloring, they are more into techie items.  Whether it be a video game, iPad or just an interactive toy, they basically like things that work off batteries!  When I saw the new products from Crayola, I knew they would be a hit with my boys.  There is the Crayola Story Studio and the Crayola iMarker.

The Story Studio

 

Lets children put themselves in a book with their favorite Disney Characters.  The Story Studio pack comes with an on-line story code which allows you to morph your child’s digital photo into a character in the book!  Your child’s photo will be transferred throughout the book and then you snap the pages together and color!  The sets come with markers, crayons, blank story sheets, glossy cover sheets and binding strips – to make a total of three story books.  You just visit Crayola.com/storystudio then you login and enter the story code to begin.

I received three sets to review:  Cars 2, Spider-Man, and Disney Princesses.  So far we have done the Cars 2 one with our 3 year old and it was a blast.  He immediately recognized himself in the story and was so proud of it!  For the low price of just under $10 a set this is a great activity to keep kids busy and give them something personalized!  I was even thinking of laminating the sheets for at least one book for each of them so I can save them.

Crayola iMarker

The Crayola iMarker from Griffin Technology is a thicker stylus pen that kids can use on the iPad.  By purchasing the iMarker (retails for $29.99 at Toys R Us, Best Buy, the Apple Store and Griffin Technology) you receive the free App Crayola ColorStudio HD.  Kids can select from 64 colors by scrolling across the digital Crayola box and change the type from crayons to markers, paints and colored pencils.  Kids color using the iMarker then on various coloring sheets and activities.

My boys thought it was so neat to use a digital Crayola marker, although it is important to stress to young kids that only this special marker can be used on the iPad!  We did have a slight delay while my son was coloring with the colors not appearing instantly but I think we are having issues in general with our iPad.  It is neat though that they can color animated images and pages, then save their work, upload it and even email it.  There are lots of little features to this app and iMarker, but I admit my boys haven’t let me play around with it enough!  It defnitley keeps them amused.  Oh and the iMarker does require AA batteries which need to be screwed it but it also turns off after ten minutes of inactivity to conserve battery.  My boys have been coloring a lot more and I will take any creativity from them that I can get!  You also have to keep track of this marker, which I haven’t figured a good spot for it yet!
