Overview: It’s up to Skid, the littlest yellow tractor, to save the day when the tunnel collapses. Can Skid find the courage to do what he was made to do and prove that he doesn’t have to be big to be mighty? In the spirit of Mike Mulligan and His Steam Shovel, the trucks and tractors in this story are bound to please with their warm message of friendship, cooperation, and courage.
MY THOUGHTS:
PicPocket Books have amazing illustrations like you’d find in traditional picture books – and “Skid & the Too Tiny Tunnel” is no exception. The app is a simple book app where the story is read aloud and the words highlight as you go (you can turn it off though if you want.) While there is a small interactive ability in the story such as pushing on the truck and hearing it rumble or honk, it is not full of crazy frills. I appreciate this book because my son’s are actually listening to the story and following the words rather than playing a game or pushing buttons. The story is about a truck who is discouraged because he is just a small truck compared to all the big trucks around him. After a nice chat with the biggest truck he gets a little confidence boost but it is not until he is needed for an important job does he realize how valuable he is even though he’s small. Skid ends up saving the day and my son loved seeing the little guy save the day!
