Pete and Pillar: The Big Rain
Written and Illustrated by Jeffrey Stoddard
Overview: Pete (a mighty diesel truck) and Pillar (a bulldozer) were best friends… which may seem odd, because everybody knows haulers don’t talk to diggers. But they didn’t care what others thought. They were best friends anyway. As they worked side by side their friendship grew until one day it was tested in a big way.
MY THOUGHTS:
PicPocket Books have amazing illustrations like you’d find in traditional picture books and “Pete & Pillar” is no different. The app is a simple book app where the story is read aloud and the words highlight as you go (you can turn it off though if you want.) While there is a small interactive ability in the story such as pushing on the truck and hearing it rumble or burp, it is not full of crazy frills. I appreciate this book because my son’s are actually listening to the story and following the words rather than playing a game or pushing buttons. The story is about two different trucks who beat the odds and become best friends. It is an adorable tale of friendship, especially perfect for any little truck lover!
