iTunes App Review: “Tractor Mac Arrives – PicPocket Books”

Tractor Mac Arrives HD – PicPocket Books

Updated: February 4, 2012

ABOUT THE APP:

PicPocket Books brings quality children’s picture book literature to digital media. Now, children can enjoy their favorites stories on-the-go, even when they do not have a physical book to read.

This interactive CHILDREN’S STORYBOOK app promotes EARLY LEARNING and helps your children develop READING skills by connecting the audio words and sounds with the written word on the page.

Overview: Join the adventures of Tractor Mac and his friends as they work and play at Farmer Bill’s Stony Meadow Farm. Tractor Mac has many friends, including Sibley the workhorse, Margot the cow, Fetch the dog and Sam the ram who all help Tractor Mac learn about friendship, teamwork, the joy of winning, and how to lose gracefully. In this first story of the Tractor Mac series, we meet Sibley the workhorse who can do the work of two horses. But then Mac a shiny new tractor, arrives at Stony Meadow Farm. Poor Sibley! Just when he’s worried he’ll be put out to pasture he saves the day when Tractor Mac runs into a big problem.  (4-8 years old)

MY THOUGHTS:

“Tractor Mac” is an amazingly illustrated app that is like a picture book come to life.  The app starts out with two drawing illustrations of a horse and tractor with all the parts labeled and if you click on them it says what they are.  For example, Girth, Reins, Blinder, Oil Pan, Fan Belt and so on.  Then the bright and amazing illustrations begin with a story of a farmer and his house.  Soon though Mac the Tractor arrives and can do the work of ten horses.  As Sibley the horse gets discouraged and bored, the farmer finally has a job for him!  Sibley helps pull Mac out of the mud and from that day forward they work together every day.  It is a great tale of friendship and showing that even if something better comes around don’t forget about the old.

BUY IT: You can download Tractor Mac Arrives HD – PicPocket Books for your iPad for $1.99.

  • Hi Cher

Thank you for the nice review--Billy and I love to hear what people think about the apps. We feel that we are fortunate to have the books both in print and then some titles as apps! We show them off all of the time. Enjoy your time with your young kids---we have three boys, but they are in college and high school--all good but time flies!

    Take Care and again thanks

    Julie
