Kenmore Blogger Summit 2012 “Innovation” #kbs2012

Kenmore is a brand that the first thing that comes to mind is that it’s my grandma (and parents) favorite brand.  I grew up with Kenmore appliances all around me but somehow in my adulthood the brand has slipped away.  Well after attending the Kenmore Blogger Summit I feel like I just want to go out start buying all new appliances!  I learned so much and was introduced to so many amazing big (and small) appliances that I don’t even know where to start!

I will say I honestly had no clue Kenmore made small appliances like mixers, blenders, vacuums, toaster ovens…

Well I do actually, the Kenmore Elite Trio with Grab-B-Go Refrigerator is like a piece of art for your kitchen.  With its sleek two door fridge, bottom freezer design, the secret is found with a touch of a button.  On the door handle you can push a button to open a Grab-N-Go door that provides easy access for kids, drinks, and snacks (although it wouldn’t really work for small kids because the button is kinda high.)  I cannot even count how many times I open the fridge for milk, ketchup, string cheese and juice boxes – this door would be perfect so I wouldn’t keep letting all the cold air out!

To continue on with the innovation discussion we were all asked to brainstorm ideas on what features we’d like to see on our appliances.  The top 10 was listed and we all got to vote!

Some of the top 10 included:

  • Dry erase/Chalkboard built on refrigerator
  • Built-in generator in refrigerator for power outages (I could have used this last summer when we had no power for a week and had a cord running from a generator at the neighbors to our house!)
  • Separate door on over to cook pizzas (so you don’t loose all the heat by opening big door.)
  • Lego vacuum (just picks up Legos!)

We then heard from Kenmore leaders about the areas they work in – washer/dryer, ovens, refrigerators.  I could tell right away all these people were passionate about their jobs at Kenmore and truly wanted to hear our thoughts and ideas.  We heard about innovations they were thinking about and some that are out already, it is amazing how something so little can really make a difference.  For example, the Kenmore mixer has a timer on it or the new 50/50 oven has two equal oven doors that could each hold a 28 lb. turkey!  Or how about an app for your smartphone that notifies you of when laundry is done – that one I’d like to see!

What would you like to see on an appliance?
