MY THOUGHTS:
Every summer we buy a few pairs of cheap (usually drug-store) sunglasses for each child and within days they are broken, lost or tossed aside because they don’t fit.
My kids are outside pretty much after breakfast and through dinner and I am constantly worrying about protecting their skin, but I admit I slack on eye protection. We just have yet to find a good pair of sunglasses that they each like and fit them right. Julbo sunglasses not only fit each of my children’s head properly, but they look great and the quality implies the frames are built to last. There are three different varieties of Julbo kid’s sunglasses to fit each age child, with of course different colors available too.
Looping 1
0-18 months — “My first Julbos”
The Looping can be turned any way they choose: the frame is reversible and has no hinges. The wrap around, ergonomic profile guarantees optimal coverage and comfort for all little head shapes. $32
Ages 3-5
Soft to the touch and perfectly curved to fit little faces, the Bubble is light and flexible with optimal comfort and protection. $40
Ages 4-6
The Booba gives great support for little ones gaining their freedom. The wrap-around shape and wide temples provide an effective barrier to the sun’s rays. The double injection frame gives optimum comfort with a super-soft finish for the part in contact with the face. The temple profile and curved ends hold the fram securely on the ears. $40
Overall, Julbo sunglasses are meant to not only offer great eye protection but stand up to active play. The are sturdy rubber and not cheap plastic that will crack or snap. They offer maximum eye protection so your child’s eyes are completely protected from UV rays and blindspots in general. Finally with so a variety of colors it is hard not to find a pair perfect for your child! Yes they are more expensive than a pair you’d pick up from Walgreens (lets say $8-$10) but these sunglasses are built to last (of course as long as you don’t loose them) and offer more protection. I know I am not alone in forgetting my kid’s eyes when slathering on the sunscreen or sick of buying another pair of cheap plastic sunglasses because the last pair broke. Yes those $10 pairs of sunglasses add up and really they are more of a novelty than an actual eye protection device.
