In case you missed my previous mention or the commercials, “I’m Having Their Baby” is premiering tonight on Oxygen! It is a six-part docu-series that follows the lives of young, pregnant women as they struggle with whether or not they should put their baby up for adoption. It is the story not yet told and one that deserves a voice.
I have a friend who was adopted and honestly thinks the worst of her birth mother, but really her birth mother could have just been young and wanted a better life for her. I think many of us assume that the mother must be a terrible person to give her child up, but don’t think how in some cases it might be best. I have another friend who is currently going through the adoption process and this show would be great for her to see birth parent’s point of view.
I will be watching this show next week, as I admit I am curious to see things from the mother’s perspective before she makes one of the toughest decisions of her life.
