Change The Cycle

Okay so I normally try to keep my posts off of personal topics, but as a woman there is one topic I wanted to share my thoughts on. Last month, I had the pleasure of speaking with the representatives for ChangetheCycle.com at BlogHer. I admit it was not a booth I was anxious to visit but I was curious on what exactly they meant by “Change the Cycle.” Did you know that 1 in 5 women suffer from heavy periods and there are options for treatment? I had no clue and honestly I thought I was alone in my heavy periods. I always laugh when those commercials come on television and they show the liquid being pored onto a menstrual pad or being soaked up by a tampon. I mean that is not how it works! For me I thought something was wrong with me because it seemed like a lot more than it should be, I remember being young and thinking I was going to bleed to death!

ChangetheCycle.com is a place where women can chat with other women who suffer from heavy periods but found relief. How? There is actually a treatment option called NovaSure.

Until I had children, I suffered. Not with cramps or being bloated, but by bleeding. I am dreading that coming back now that we are probably done have children. I haven’t completely ruled out more kids yet otherwise I would be really considering NovaSure. NovaSure is a one-time five-minute procedure, approved by the FDA, that has high rates of success. 91% of women returned to normal, light, or no periods at all, many also experienced a reduction in PMS and painful periods. As a side note, NovaSure should be done after you are sure you are done having children. Basically NovaSure is a more modern and safe option for women who don’t want a hysterectomy. My grandmother actually had a hysterectomy when I was just a baby and said she wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

I wanted to share about Change The Cycle because since my readers are pretty much all women. I wanted others to
know they are not alone and I truly feel this is a great option for women. After visiting their BlogHer booth I really liked what they had to say and while I haven’t had this done personally I thought it was something that so many women might not know about.

Change The Cycle has so much valuable information to read, including personal stories such as Vicki Iovine’s story. So if you are like me and want to do your own research before you talk to the doctor or hear from real women, this is a site to check out.
