Princess and Knight Training at Medieval Times

One of my favorite places in Chicagoland has become Medieval Times, and I love it because it makes my kids smile. We have been there a few times with them now and it really is a great price for what you get (read my review on the new show).

Well just recently we got the chance to attend Knight Training (there is also Princess Training available) before the show and my boys had a blast! The Princess and Knight Training was a free pre-event available just for purchasing your tickets! The class is one hour before the first show on Saturday (Princess) and Sunday (Knights) for children ages 5-12.

We walked in, went through our line and dealt with very polite and friendly associates. We had time to spare and walked around enjoying the atmosphere. I do recommend getting there early though as its nice to have some time to walk around rather than rushing right to your seat.

Knick-Knacks to buy in the lobby:

For Knight Training my boys went out in the arena and stood there with a wooden sword. A Knight showed them some moves and all the kids (both boys and girls were out there) worked that sword! It was a nice little bonus for the kids to feel like they were involved and better yet that it was free.

After training, we had a little bit of time before the show so we walked around for a few minutes before the show. We were greeted by the King and took our seats next. While we did have great seats (second row) there really is no bad seats in the house!

So the show started and our server was off brining us our drinks and meal. No utensiles were needed, which honestly was perfect with the food we were served. Tomato Bisque, Focaccia Bread with Olive Oil and Seasoning (or Garlic Bread), Barbecued spare ribs, Oven-Roasted Chicken, Herb-Basted Potato Split into Two Quarters, and Braided Apple Strudel was our menu. My mother-in-law was with us and she actually got the vegetarian meal, which was peppers with rice, hummus, and veggies.

Our section was the Green Knight, each section having a knight they cheer for. Our knight ending up winning which was extra exciting. The whole show though was packed with action from sword fighting to knight challenges to a bird soaring around the arena. The show can be pricey for a family, but there are always coupons or specials out there if you look for them! When you think about it that you get dinner and a show, it is reasonable.
