2Toots Train Restaurant {Glen Ellyn, IL} Review

A restaurant that has a train that goes around and delivers customer’s food, does it really get any cooler than that? 2Toots in Glen Ellyn (there is also a Bartlett location) is probably my son’s favorite restaurants, and honestly I don’t mind going there either. The joy on their faces when we walk in is priceless and even though we have been there a whole bunch of times, they still are in awe. Our favorite spots are sitting at the counter (or I should say the kids sit at the counter and my husband and I sit at the nearby table), but there is no bad seat in the house – all tables are along train tracks. The train goes along the tracks constantly and when your food is ready it carries it and stops in front of you for the waitress to deliver it.

Hows the food at 2Toots? Its actually good! They feature Tallgrass Beef Hot Dogs with no preservatives, all natural seasonings and spices, no nitrates or nitrites, no artificial colors, and are gluten free! All of their hamburgers and hot dogs also are made from 100% grass fed, prairie raised, humanely handled cattle from Bill Kurtis’ (nationally known journalist, CBS news Chicago, rancher, conservationist and businessman) Tallgrass Beef Company.

Their hamburgers are actually pressed and nothing I have had before, a unique and flavorful taste. My favorite though is their Traditional BLT, oh how I love me some bacon! My boys love their Hot Dogs, Grilled Cheese, and Dino Chicken Nuggets! The fries are crinkle cut and crispy, yum!

So they are usually not this dead, we got there before the dinner rush:

Yum BLT and Milkshake:

Grilled Cheese and yes thats carrots in there:

Dino Chicken Nuggets:

Gumballs and toys:

Horse-time!

Desserts:

Train Whistle-time:

Riding his train whistle alongside the train:

My absolute favorite menu item though is the Desserts, specifically a Vanilla Milk Shake for me and a Chocolate Malt for my husband. My boys they love the cupcakes, which are topped by a plastic train whistle.

Overall, I highly recommend 2Toots for any train lover or family in general looking for a unique dinner experience. There is no admission fees or anything special to do, just show up like you would any other restaurant and be hungry! The prices are quite reasonable – we had two adult and three kids eat for about $37. We got there for all the kid’s birthdays and just whenever we want to treat the kids. Other than the trains going around there is also a ride-on horse that’s only $0.25 to ride and a few gumball/toy machines. There is also Thomas the Train playing on the television! We always bring a handful of quarters.

Don’t forget to sign up for their Birthday Club! If you sign up you receive a free kids meal and cupcake for your child’s birthday!
