VTech Switch & Go Dinos Review {Hot New Toy for Kids!}

VTech is one company that we seem to have a tons of products from – both for myself and my children. For me I think of our cordless phones right off the bat and for my kids I see three just looking around the room. When I heard that VTech was coming out with interactive electric dinosaurs I knew they would be cool.

VTech Switch & Go Dinos are a new product from Vtech that is the Ultimate Kids Toy!

Switch & Go Dinos easily transform between a dinosaur and a vehicle in a few simple steps. Switch & Go Dinos come equipped with an LCD screen for customizable animations, providing an imaginative and stimulating 2-in-1 play experience. In dinosaur mode, action buttons play interesting facts about each dinosaur, providing kids with fun and enriching playtime. There are seven durable, unique and collectable Switch & Go Dinos available ranging in price from $15.99 to $49.99. Ages 3-8 years old.

So first off they are like robot dinosaurs. I got the chance to check out three of them and each of them has their own unique characteristics!

Brok the Brachiosaurus

Features:

  • 2-in-1 toy easily transforms from a dino to a vehicle and back again
  • Features over 80 wild sounds and phrases
  • LCD screen plays cool dinosaur and driver animations
  • Talk button plays fun phrases and dino facts
  • Includes race car and launching Pterodactyl
  • Realistic sounds and cool graphics
  • Suggested retail price $49.99

Brok is a huge dinosaur that goes from race car to dinosaur, with tons of different phrases and sounds. He stomps (thats his trademark) and launches a pterodactyl off his ramp! He zooms around easily by pushing him and his head goes up and down by pushing a button. He’s not a violent or mean dinosaur, just a fun loving robot dinosaur! For just under $50 this is a great gift for any child. My boys (4 and 5) have been playing with this for days now and they cannot get enough of it, even my 1 year old laughs and laughs at this dinosaur. Brok has an LCD screen that changes from a dinosaur to a person and you can even change the face through a few varieties. It really is a cute toy and I can definitely attest to its durability as my boys are pretty rough on toys. I admit I had my doubts about this toy as I have seen other robot-type products on the market before, but this one is appropriate for young kids and for the price its worth it. I mean how cool is it that a dinosaur can transform into a car – and yes it is easy enough for kids to do on their own (just flip some switches.) The only thing I would change, or more so add, is the ability to maybe connect via USB to customize his phrases or add a remote, but then those two things would probably make the price go way up.

 Attila the Ankylosaurus

Features:

  • 2-in-1 toy easily transforms from a dino to a tow truck and back again
  • Features over 70 wild sounds and phrases
  • LCD screen plays cool dinosaur and driver animations
  • Talk button plays fun phrases and dino facts
  • Includes wrecking ball, tow hook, and dump trailer
  • Realistic sounds and cool graphics
  • Suggested retail price $24.99

Attila is a fun dinosaur because he is rough and tough, and transforms into a tow truck! My boys had such a kick from it because it includes a tow hook and a trailer to pull. In dino mode your child can whip around its tail with wrecking ball and the LCD screen lights up between dino eyes and a racecar driver. Lots of cool phrases and fun sound effects. He doesn’t move on his own but he does glide easily and the transformation is easy enough for kids to do on their own!

Span the Spinosaurus

Features:

  • 2-in-1 toy easily transforms from a dino to a plane and back again
  • Features over 70 wild sounds and phrases
  • LCD screen plays cool dinosaur and pilot animations
  • Talk button plays fun phrases and dino facts
  • Includes baby dino, cage, rescue lift, and four food discs
  • Realistic sounds and cool graphics
  • Suggested retail price $29.99

Span is probably my sons favorite because he goes from dinosaur to jet! He changes quickly and my sons can do it on their own but really they mainly keep it as a jet. He comes with a cage and baby dino, plus some discs but my boys have of course lost those already. The LCD screen has the fun dino and pilot face to change between and there are over 70 sounds and phrases available. For just under $30, this would be an awesome gift for any child – I mean a dinosaur and airplane (jet) in one, how can it be wrong!

And check out my video review:

Overall, my boys had a blast with these dinosaurs and I was amazed at how well they played together and for the length of time they did.  The dinos really captured their attention and they have played with them everyday since.   The day we opened these my son’s 5 year old friend was over and he said he saw these on tv and is going to ask Santa for them, after he got to play with them and explore what they could do, he said he was even more excited.  I have a feeling some more of the seven varieties of dinos are in our future too.
