How to Julienne a Squash & Dice an Onion Using Chicago Cutlery DesignPro Knives

My Chicago Cutlery Ambassadorship is coming to an end, but my final post is a presentation of me cutting up some vegetables!  I always like examples myself and I hope these help.  I have had a great time working with Chicago Cutlery and have defintiely improved my knife expierence and kitchen confidence.  You can read more about my experience as a Chicago Cutlery Ambassador in my posts.

I loved working with Chicago Cutlery these last few months. It gave me kitchen confidence and taught me the difference between a good and bad knife. I used to hate prepping food and therefore didn’t cook as often as I should have, and now I am slowly cooking more. I admit I was afraid of knives before, because of their sharpness and while the DesignPro knives are really sharp, they are also easier to handle and I now know how to use them properly.

Recently I wrote about my experience at a Chicago Cutlery event – basically it was a knife skills class at the Chopping Block. We learned all about cutting vegetables, fruits, and meat, of course using the various DesignPro Chicago Cutlery knives. My favorite is probably the Partoku knife because it is smaller than a Chef knife but bigger than a Parer knife. To me its my new universal go-to knife. While I love the Chef knife for cutting bigger foods, it is a little scary and intimidating still so I am working my way up to it! The Parer is great for small foods like strawberries and grapes, but to small for onions and longer vegetables.

So here are two of my videos showing how to julienne a squash and dice an onion. The onion was a big one for me to learn because I always cry when I cut onions and I can’t handle it.

Here is my video tutorial on Chicago Cutlery knives:

Overall, Chicago Cutlery has really changed my cooking skills and made my family quite happy!
