So school pictures are coming up and it got me thinking. Do you get your child’s picture taken with school or yearly around their birthday? When my kids were little I did the whole 3, 6, 9, 12 months photos and then yearly on their birthdays. Now that my kids are in elementary school I was just wondering what the norm is. I am thinking I will buy the class picture but I know at least for pre-school the school pictures were so expensive and you got what you got. When I take my kids to the portrait studio, like the JCPenny or Target Portrait Studio, I usually have a good coupon and I pick the best picture. I like that I get to make sure their hair is nice and they smiled – school photographers don’t always seem to do that.

When I was a kid, we always went with the school pictures. Maybe every couple of years my Mom would gather us up for the dreaded family photo, lol. Those often seemed to happen through church for some reason. A photographer would set up in the church's basement and offer a special rate, probably because he/she knew there would be a lot of business.
I have been getting the smallest package that includes the class photo. The pics aren't the best but at least I know I'll have a decent photo to look back at and see how they've changed
