So last December I thought about how I wanted the new year to go and of course January flew by, then February, and now we are already in March! I almost went with “Well there is always next year.” but I was determined to work on whatever changes I still could. Now I didn’t make New Year’s Resolutions because those are usually doomed from the get-go so I just made a mental list of things to work on. One of those “resolutions” was to feed my family (and myself) healthier meals and snacks. So far we actually haven’t been too bad with this as I have been cooking more at home instead of getting fast food and I have been buying healthier snacks in bulk from Costco.
I think resolutions fail because people have high and usually unrealistic expectations. I mean for someone like me to say I am going to work out five days a week or I am going to eat out only once a month, is crazy! I can though start small and do what I can when I think about it. Like every morning when I am packing my kid’s lunch boxes, I realize instead of the usual chips or fruit snacks, why not apple sauce? Then when I am done making lunches it is usually time for a snack for myself so I sit down and have a cold Musselman’s Apple Sauce!
So my Replacement Resolution has become switching out some of our non-healthy snakcs for Musselman’s Apple Sauce. I also am going to try to be a sneaky chef and sneak it in my next batch of cookies instead of vegetable oil. Its amazing how something so simple as applesauce can really make a difference, not to mention the deliciousness of Musselman’s! It is not hard at all to start slow and small, and Musselman’s makes it easy since you don’t feel like you are missing out!
So we are saying no to fruit snacks and yes to Musselman’s Apple Sauce! They are low in calories (only 50), 0 grams of fat and only 8 grams of natural sugar from apples themselves. The fruit snacks are 80 calories each and 15 grams of sugar! Wow I never realized that! You get like eight fruit snacks too which is nothing compared to a whole 4 ounce apple sauce.
