KFC’s Li’l Bucket Kids Meals

Last month KFC launched a new kids meal for the Li’ttlest KFC fans.  It is packaged in a little KFC bucket and starts at 210 calories, 4 grams of fat and 565 mg of sodium.  Kids can customize their Li’l Bucket from a few choices (yes the nutrition varies depending on what your child selects) but all the meals will include chicken, side, Capri Sun Roarin’ Water and GoGo squeeZ applesauce for dessert.

Here is how the Li’l Bucket looks:

The Go Go SqueeZ even has a newly designed cap that is choke-free!

I got the chance to visit the KFC headquarters with my 6 year old and it was great for him to check out the meals and try something new.  Honestly my kids are picky eaters and whenever I have gotten KFC in the past I just got it for my husband and I.  I love that they now have a cute little kids meal that my kids will actually want.  Now I am not saying KFC is healthy but if we are going to eat fast food, I might as well give them some better choices like grilled chicken, apple sauce and green beans.  I guess I never thought about grilled chicken for my kids, but I eat it so why shouldn’t I start my kids off early with it.  We also only eat KFC in moderation.  My boys favorite is the Bites with Mac and Cheese, but they have tried the grilled drumstick and like it too.

Options include:

Want to know exactly how many calories, carbs and fat different KFC meal combinations are?  There is a super easy Nutrition Calculator where you just click on the items you want and it adds it up for you.  I had no clue that Sierra Mist is 200 calories compared to the only 30 in Capri Sun.  I actually showed this to my boys to show them how the higher the calorie amount is, the worse it is for them.  They don’t understand it completely but I am hoping they will learn about making educated food choices and how fast food is something for moderation.

What about a toy?  Well rather than give kids another plastic toy that they will play with for a few minutes and then toss on the floor (for you to later step on), KFC has partnered with National Geographic to give out National Geographic Fact Cards (coming soon.)
