So a few weeks ago, Aidan (my 6 year old) and myself got the chance to visit the KFC Headquarters in Kentucky. It was a blogger event with four other moms and their children. We all brought one of our children to check out the new KFC Li’l Bucket kids meal. My son is super picky and I was worried, but he tried the meal and we had a great weekend. Since I got pregnant with Gavin when Aidan was only 9 months old, I feel like I never had alone time with him, so it was super nice to have a just us weekend. It was also the first time he was on a plane!
Our weekend started out arriving in Kentucky on Friday night. Aidan and I met up with Skye and her son for dinner and the boys become instant best friends! I admit it was so nice to be out with just one child and to be able to actually have an adult conversation!
Saturday we had breakfast at our hotel, the Hilton Garden Inn Louisville, KY, then it was off to the KFC Headquarters. Since it was a Saturday the headquarters was quiet, but not for long since there was five kids running around!
We got to check out their KFC Chef Kitchen first. We sampled lots of yummy KFC menu items and of course the kids got their own Li’l Bucket. I admit the packaging inside a Li’l bucket was pretty cute and Aidan laughed.
Inside it contains: chicken, side, Capri Sun Roarin’ Water and GoGo squeeZ applesauce for dessert. There are different choices depending on what type of chicken, side and drink your child wants. The calories for the kid’s meal below is around 210 calories, which I don’t think is bad compared to some other kids meals out there.
It of course it not the healthiest choice, but if you are going to feed your kids fast food this one is great because it gives choices such as vegetables, grilled chicken and applesauce. I look at it too like the extra calories from the chicken is probably what they’d get from french fries somewhere else!
I thought this sandwich was super cute and it was actually perfect sized for me!
The KFC museum is an actual “white house”:

After the KFC HQ visit, we headed to the Louisville Slugger Museum. My son loved the LEGO exhibits the best, and of course there was Wrigley Field from Chicago there!
Overall, we had a great trip to KFC HQ and in Louisville. The KFC employees we met with where so nice and genuine. An interesting thing I learned too was that they were doing a soft rollout of the KFC Li’l Bucket meal, meaning they weren’t advertising it all over tv and the media. I think they didn’t push it through the media because then it would be really pushing for kids to eat it. The KFC employees said they know their customers are not coming everyday (nor should they) and that they wanted a kids choice meal that was an option for parents on-the-go. If anything the trip there made me like the brand KFC more!
Oh and this is my favorite picture, it’s me and Aidan by the KFC safe that holds the actual recipe:

Gross! And while you were there did they tell you how much antibiotics in the chicken they get from China there are? Google it. All their chicken has the illegal antibiotics that the US will not put in chicken, but China does. And the chicken killing dogs in treats comes from there too. BOO for KFC and you eating it. Hope you all didn't get sick.
We didn't get sick, but thanks for your concern :)
It sounds like you and Aidan had a wonderful time. Wow they really rolled out the red carpet for you bloggers and your kids. What a neat expericence to be able to see the safe that holds the secret recipe and to the Louisville Slugger Museum. I am glad you also had a chance to spend some one on one time with Aidan. Thanks for the information about the great options at KFC.
Your welcome! Thanks for your kind words, we did have a great time!
